HP: Deathly Hallows Part 2 on DVD/BR today!

Huzzah! Just picked up my copy. I'm gonna watch both Parts 1 and 2 later this evening. I was underwhelmed by Part 2 in the theater, but that's been true of every HP movie so far (and I've come to love them all), so hopefully watching it again tonight will be a better experience.

I'll be buying it today. :) I just got a new Plasma TV which is currently running break-in slides for 100 hours and this will be one of the first actual things I will watch on the set when it's ready on Saturday.

Rojo, I thought you didn't like the movie and that you weren't going to buy the DVD/BD. Hmm, maybe that was someone else .

Hopefully, this isn't one of those barebones Blu-Rays with nothing but the movie in it. I got screwed when I bought Transformers 3. I'd be interested to watch the special features.

I'm thinking it was somebody else. I had some issues with the movie, but I still enjoyed it. I had lukewarm feelings towards all of the HP movies the first time I saw them, but I have grown to love each and every one of them after watching them a second time.

Plus, I already own the first seven movies. I can't fairly well leave my collection incomplete, can I?

I loved the final episode. It's the only one I went to see at the cinema. I didn't actually see any HP until about a year or so ago when someone lent us the first 5. Then we bought no 6 and decided to see the end of an era on the big screen. It was a fitting end indeed.

Reading the above post, I maybe got my numbers mixed up but you know what I mean.

I have seen all of the Harry Potter movies at the cinema but I only have the first 4 on DVD so far. I plan to buy the others sometime next year. By the time I get around to Deadly Hallows Part 2 it will be a bit cheaper than it currently is.

Now that all the films have been released on DVD, I may pick up the boxed set. The downside is that it doesn't have any special bonus features. Meh. Maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas.

We already knew that would be the case. WB announced some time ago, and there was a thread here about it, that the DVDs are going in the "Disney Vault" at the end of the year.

Sometime late next year, they will be releasing a mega box set of the Ultimate Editions of the 8 movies.

I suspected that might be the case when they issued the first one, and held off buying any of them.

I picked up the "bare bones" HP DVD today at Wally World for 13 bucks. It includes deleted scenes, the useless digital copy, "The Goblins of Gringotts," "The Women of Harry Potter," and the "conversation with JK Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe" that I thought was a Blu-Ray only feature. So ... bonus.

I'm just happy Molly's line is in the movie, and thus, on the DVD. Hopefully we'll get more of her on the deleted scenes.

I liked Part I better than Part II, but I'm still excited about getting this. Hopefully I can catch a sale at Best Buy like Part I.

I finally watched Part II...I remembered little of Part I, didn't make much of an impression on me...but I enjoyed myself with it. Didn't think it was a great film though.

Funny thing about magic in movies...I'm always wondering why they're wandering waiting for things to happen when the powerful magicians/wizards/what-have-you simply don't zap each other? Damn..one bullet could have done the trick. Why are they always worried about falling? Can't they levitate? I also thought about this in Lord of the Rings though...if Gandalf can smite the Balrog (What I've heard is one of the more powerful ancient demons) why is he fighting Orcs with a sword??? Can't the Balrog fly??? He has wings! Argh, I guess this is why I don't watch or enjoy fantasy movies as much as SF.

Edit: Incidentally, David Brin had an excellent blog about young adult literature: "What books can we give our teens that don't mire them in a swamp of vampires, domineering wizards or nostalgia for feudalism? These are a few of my personal science fiction favorites for young adults, weighted more toward SF and a little common sense mixed with lots of sense-o-wonder. Many are classics that I grew up with...along with some marvelous recent additions." We don't have to keep feeding kids stuff that looks toward a supposed "golden age" of the past.

I forgot it was out today (I'm hard-wired for Tuesdays). Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to be buying a DVD copy for my Dad for Christmas, and a Blu-ray version for me (Dad doesn't have a BD player), but I'm buying my copy under protest as I was assuming the Ultimate Edition with the book and bonus documentary disc would be coming out if not right now, certainly in early 2012. But now they're vaulting the thing I'm going to have to wait till 2013 to complete that set. There are some very unhappy campers on the Potter forums.

The good news is at least Warners doesn't pull the "release a vanilla version now and save the extras for later" trick with the Potter films. The Ultimate Editions include an extra documentary, a booklet and other odds and ends (plus, once upon a time, expanded editions of the movies), but the majority of the bonuses tend to be include with the regular editions.

Hopefully word of the vaulting hasn't spread too far and I'm actually able to buy a copy of the thing...

I've ordered this from Amazon. Already have 1 through 7 on DVD/Blu-Ray, so the final film is a must have.

I must say I'm a bit disappointed with the BD I picked up today at Target for $18. It came only with the movie, the HP Lego game demo, and some forgettable deleted scenes. I would've liked to get all the features that OmahaStar mentioned. I still don't understand why these studios cannot (or refuse to) include decent special features on Blu-Ray. I'm getting tired of getting only the barebones edition when there's a lot of info they could package into these discs.

I am somewhat tempted to wait for this. I do want to own the entire collection and I am torn over whether I care enough about the bonus features or ultimate editions to wait. I've borrowed movies 1-6 from my Dad. I guess I could just watch his copies until I wait for the ultra mega boxed set next year.

Big HP fan, in fact, next week Hubby and I are meeting family at Disney World. Hubby and I will be there a day early and go to Harry Potter at Universal. I don’t care that much about the rest of the park (not a roller coaster person).

I haven’t seen many of the films in the theaters; we buy them, instead.

I picked up the 3D-bluray yesterday, which led me to start the "Flickster crap” thread. I understand the piracy angle, though manufacturing in China probably led to more bootlegs than anything else, imo. But, if the other seven movies were actual downloads, why couldn’t this last film be actual download. I can’t put it on my ipad. I planned on watching it on the plane. Dang!

You bought the single disk version. The extra special features are on the 2 Disk Blu-ray, which was a few dollars more.

I haven't really explored it yet, but according to the instruction page "you can instantly stream to computers, tablets, or smartpones anytime, anywhere and also download to your computer." Is the download in a non-iPad compatible format?

Apparently I love this movie. I've already watched it (and Part 1) twice since buying it on Friday.

I bought the pathetic DVD version (with only the deleted scenes) on Saturday and watched both parts over the course of the day. A really enjoyable end to the series, but DVDs sure are getting the shaft in the extras department. They didn't even bother to put the picture of Harry at the top of the spine on the DVD case like they have on all the others!
