statement I've ever read on the internet.I think you'll find that was 'the' racial slur referred to in the title.
With that said, I'm surprised this makes news here and not the death of Heavy D. which is more shocking and news worthy than anything Ratner says.

It's interesting that in the UK, mainstream celebrities or DJs regularly use the word 'gay' as a term of disparagement and there is little real fuss but Ratner is (rightly, IMHO) taken to task for using the word 'fag.' Though I would say that while 'gay' to mean crap or rubbish is fairly offensive, the word 'fag' is a hate word and is more offensive still.
Anyway, I guess that Ratner didn't pick up on that whole 'X-Men as a metaphor for minorities' vibe of Bryan Singer's.
So it's official. Ratner has ignored The Last Stand.

I'm reminded a little of when director Stephen Frears joked that he knew Daniel Day-Lewis 'before he was Irish' (DDL was born in and largely grew up in England but took out an Irish passport, to which he was entitled, as his father was Anglo-Irish, in either 1987 or 1993, depending on what you believe). To be fair to Ratner, he gave Jackie Chan his big break in the West and has directed Chris Tucker in various movies. He also edited the English language version of the Indian film Kites, which had Indian and Mexican leads. I doubt if he is an out-and-out racist, just kind of an idiot.

You'll get no argument from me that Ratner is a colossal shithead. That doesn't necessarily mean though that because of this is to blame for the quality (whether good or not) of his films.

Well to add some slightly mitigating context (not much mind you) apparently she used to go by another name that was far more anglasized, Lisa something or other, and that was what he was talking about.

Where did I say that?
I'm talking about the illogical statement you made. Just because someone is an awful person doesn't mean they can't make good movies. James Cameron is notoriously difficult to work for. Spike Lee is a douchebag too, but they've made some amazing films.
Now, I'm not saying Brett Ratner is anywhere near being in the same league as those two, or that his films are necessarily "great" but your initial statement simply consisted of a declaration of the quality of his work being directly related to his being a raging asshole. One does not necessarily follow the other.
If your contention was instead that Ratner's films were awful because he doesn't rehearse his cast, well then certainly there's room to discuss that point, but you made no specific allusion to that comment in your initial post.
