What do you think the music should be like in Star Trek XI?

Elfman is the composer of 6 right?
That theme style was too serious and menacing for Abrams' whimsical comic style.

So... this guy from Tim Burton's batman seems to have alot of variety....that's not a bad call there.

It's pretty much guaranteed that Abrams will use Giacchino again. He's pretty loyal to those he likes to work with. You can pretty much bank on him doing the soundtrack again.

In remembering all the complaints over "Faith Of The Heart" for Enterprise, why should all the music be the same? Why can't there be different styles of music?

I for one wouldn't mind a variety of musical styles. After all, it would be more plausible to show a diverse set of musical styles for a diverse set of cultures.

William Shatner should sing the entire STXII soundtrack.

The main theme should be a modern mix of "Mr Tambourine Man", and there should be an extended mountain climbing sequence to the tune of the "Shatner of the Mount" fanvid.

I actually liked faith of the Heart and if Enterprise hadn't been a remix of the 24th century and actually something closer to our time gritty and military...the the song would have fit the show perfectly...(non beat version of course)

I'll agree with the music for Enterprise. I liked it. It was nice to hear something different, and I thought it was fitting.

They tried a more jazzy music for the 20th century segments in TVH, and a lot of people complained about it. Again, thought it was fitting.

As for Danny Elfman, I was trying to make a joke, which I guess fell rather flat. While I think Elfman is a talented enough composer, I don't think his style would suit Trek.

Actually, what I'd love to hear would be a full, orchestral version of the Alexander Courage theme, on the scale of something big. Not like in the closing credits of the last movie which really just sounded the same as the TOS theme.

Couldn't get much bigger than what we got in STXI's end credits.

Without resorting to cheapness, like blasting the sound mix or adding pointless latin chanting.

I don't think the problem with FOTH was that it was a big change of pace, the problem was the song itself which was corny and stupid.

Giacchino will be scoring the movie as long as JJ Abrams is involved with them and he will do a great job with it. I can't wait for his score, I'm looking forward to that more than the movie.

It wasn't bad but it also very Good...It was bit cheesy... It will be far fro the remember Soundtrack of Sci Fi let alone of Trek...
He should have shot for sometime more original yet with a subtle reminder of TOS like the Voyager Home Soundtrack had at the end of movie when they got the ship back.

To my ear, it just sounded just like the show's version of the theme.
