"James Bond 23" officially slated for 2012!

Skyfall is the first Bond movie to start with 'S' and the shortest title ever (the only one with two syllables IIRC). Even if you write 'Dr No', which has fewer letters [rather than Doctor No], it has more syllables and two words. It's the first one-word title since Goldeneye (which in turn was the first since Octopussy).

I wouldn't mind it too much if they got Adele to do the theme song.. She has that kind of voice that would lend itself to the jazziness we expect from a Bond theme.. Plus, she's very "it" right now, so it would make sense.

Adele's name has been rumored for a few months now. I think at the most she's submitted a demo, but I don't think anything is for sure yet.

I hope it's a song that actually features the word skyfall in it this time. I don't mind title songs not featuring the title, but after two in a row I'm ready for a return to form.

Here's a few predictions:

-The line Bond, James Bond will be back in the film.

-Craig will finally get a gunbarrel to open his film.

-The film will closely resemble Casino Royale over Quantum of Solace.

-Craig will finally get a gunbarrel to open his film.
I'd rather see them do something like what they did in CR, a cold open followed by a gunbarrel sequence. QoS missed a huge opportunity to start a new tradition. They could have cut out that dull opening car chase and started the movie with Bond chasing down the Quantum assassin, then turned the part where he shot the assassin into a gunbarrel sequence leading into the opening credits.

I've become very fond of this new popularity of having title cards at the end of movies, and I really liked how it was done in QoS with the gunbarrel becoming the Q. It'd be derivative to do it again (plus, there aren't any appropriate letters in "SkyFall"), but they have kind of set themselves up to do it up somehow in every movie, now.

They did that in the video game version of QoS.

However, I think that would get old and would pigeon hold writers to come up with ways to integrate that as the ending for all the credits, in addition to forcing the title song to have a "booming" start to it (could you imagine "Nobody Does it Better" coming directly after a gun-barrel sequence? It would sound so awkward).

I was never a big fan of the softer Bond themes anyway. :p

But yeah, you're right. It would have worked for "Another Way to Die," but it would force every song to start out like that.

I am really excited about almost every aspect of "SkyFall". I hope the song is called "SkyFall" that'd be kind of cool. Adele hasn't been confirmed yet (and yeah I guess neither has David Arnold as composer) but I'd be excited if both were. I've become a big Adele fan recently.

You know...they COULD have the two "O"s fade into the "S" in Skyfall....

Appears pictures from filming have already surfaced on the web:

To put these pictures into context...well I really can't, lol. One things for certain though, rumors from earlier this month about Craig sporting a beard appear to be true. Ok so it's not quite a beard but it is some stubble.

And just to throw my two cents in on why Bond would be bearded...I believe he was in a deep cover assignment and got pulled off of it at the start of the film. I highly doubt Craig will be sporting a beard all throughout filming.

The only time I can think (off the top of my head) of 007 being bearded in a movie was near the start of DAD when he was released from that Korean prison. But Brosnan also sported facial fuzz at the press conference for Goldeneye yet turned up in the whole of that movie clean-shaven. So I wouldn't read too much into Craig's hairy look just yet.

True, but I was commenting on the pictures I posted from filming, where Craig is in fact sporting a bit of stubble.

^ Fair enough. But was he onset or shooting in them (not a facetious question, I genuinely don't know)? They may or may not be shooting or rehearsals and he may or may not shave it off that night before tomorrow's shooting!

He has make up used to represent blood in one of them. Doesn't strike me as a walk through rehearsal.

If you look at one of the pictures of him sitting in the back of the truck, you can see a camera mounted in between the front two seats.

He's filming :D

I'm going to turn a bit fanboy here for a second, but about the song, I think there's a great opportunity here to do something really epic and have a Waters and Gilmour duet--something akin to pre-Darkside acoustic Floyd.

I mean what better way to celebrate an anniversary than blend the most "British" film franchise of the last half-century with the most "British" rock band of the last half century.
