I'm not sure if anyone here plays or used to play the Activision game "Bridge Commander" and if you do if you are a member of the online community...

If you are, you may vaguely remember that 4 years ago, I (as Trekky_35/James_Bonsall) released a mod entitled "Captain's Orders" which was an experiment into adding Guests and that Hailing function to ships in QuickBattle...

Suffice to say I abandoned the mod after I left the community for personal reasons, however boredom recently led me to dig it out again and take a look. It led me to realise two things:

    1) The (limited!) python I learned 4 years ago had gone...
    2) The mod was woefully messy - bits of code everywhere and generally in need of cleaning up!

So I am announcing my intention here to begin work again on Captain's Orders, however with the slightly more ambitious intention this time of making it an Alternative Campaign for the game, rather than an expansion to QuickBattle!

I'll update here and at BCC and if I feel the urge may even start a blog detailing my progress!

    Thank you for your time!

hey - still like Bridge Commander and play it when a new Mod comes along that looks interesting. Wish someone would fix teh big that crashes to desktop at random moments during massive battles!

Well, the game IS seriously old. Havn'e played it since I became a hubby and daddy, but in the long, lonely nights before then I played many hours with BC. Hell, DJ Curtis was a RL friend. :)

I'd love a true starship combat simulator like that to some along again... But assuming it still works fine on Win7, if I ever have a free day with little to do I'd relish the chance to load 'er up again, mod all the textures I want and go nuts blowing starships to pieces!

That mod seems to cut down the number of crashes!

A small snag I hit with the coding of the new campaign!

He's just protecting himself from danger by retracting into his shell.

    ...humans do that, right?

The next big mod to come out is the DQP (Delta Quadrant Pack)

Yup, it's apparently a Security Officer thing...they all do it when walking to that station:

Also for anyone who is interested, I've established a blog to chart the progress of this mod:

I'm playing BC these days. It's an old game but it stands up.

One thing I want is 2 stop the crew telling me what to do. Anyone know if there is a mod for this?
