Shane Black talks IM3

Touching on the second “Iron Man” movie, Black stated that while it was successful commercially, he believed it was critically ill received as the movie made a lot of “half choices” and that Stark was not a “proactive” hero in it.
“The middle of the movie is Tony Stark sitting around his house!” complained Black. Emphasizing high stakes as extremely important to a movie, Black said that in “Iron Man 3” he hoped to make bold choices and planned to set up multiple payoffs and reversals.

Going back to “Iron Man 3” Black told the audience that he requested that director Jon Favreau return as Happy Hogan in the film. “I love him as an actor,” said Black as the audience cheered. He also revealed that outside of a few references, “Iron Man 3” would not involve the Avengers and would focus squarely on Tony Stark.

he talks about other stuff too, including why Liefield sucks and a zombie comic he loved.

Stoked about this movie here in NC. It's being filmed in Wilmington and is bringing tons and tons of much needed jobs to our economy.

Yep, looking forward to it here in Jacksonville too. The wife and I may take some trips down the road a time or two during filming.

Okay, now let us all ignore Iron Man 2 ever happened.

I'm still pissed at myself for buying IM2 on Blu-Ray a while back. :(

Reading those comments from Black has me really excited about the film. I can't wait. :D

Damnit, a potentially great film is being made in my home state for once and I'm living on the other side of the planet. Just great. :scream:

I didn't have any major problems with IM2. Things about the first film were better than the second, but the reverse is also true. Happy's expanded role is an example. It's also just too hard for me to say that a movie with SJ sucked; can't do it.

Since IM2 was commercially very successful, I don't see it being ignored in terms of continuity; nor do I see a need to ignore it. Improving on it is perfectly fine, though. :techman:

Happy to hear that production of IM3 is underway.

P.S. I love Wilmington, NC.

Looking forward to "Iron Man 3" and Shane Black directing it. "Iron Man 2" flaws have been pointed out numerous times by those involved with the film and in several threads in the forum. Mickey Rourke recently expressed his frustrations with the film.

I'm not, it's actually in right now as I surf and pack up Ebay items. It's one of those overly bashed films.

It's definitely not as good as the first one but still good. It grew on me in DVD format. I think the high point is the racetrack scene.

He just arrived in Monaco as I'm watching it now.
The intro scene with Natalie Rushman (aka ScarJo) just showed up and it got me thinking, are those modeling pics he pulls up available anywhere. I'm guessing those dozen or so pics were made just for that scene?
Also related to ScarJo, it appears those leaked cell phone nudes of her from earlier this year are indeed real. Makes me laugh at the statements I saw about the net by " 'shop experts" who clearly told us they were fakes.

Is it just me, or does she seem to have some kind of Russian accent in one place in that sequence?

I never noticed anything like that at all. It's been a while since I've watched it though.

Back on track: This is one of the first positive threads I've seen regarding IM3. I for one, really like how this guy thinks. Based on his comments, I'm intrigued and excited about the film.
