2011 NFL Season - A New Game

Tebow is awful. I've been pro-Tebow for a while, but it's obvious he's not an NFL QB. Looks like the Dawgs beat the Gators twice this weekend. ;)

It was inevitable the fall would come for Tebow. I almost feel sorry for him because such unrealistic expectations were put on him by the crazies.

I have legitimately no idea what you are talking about there.

OJ. Southern Cal. The late 60s. Played running back. He was found innocent and people still saw fit to criticize him and "know better" than the justice system. That's all I was saying. No different than me criticizing my "favorite" Raven player. It's all good. I'm extremely cynical about public figures who claim to be such good Christians and then trouble follows them. It's a personal bias of mine. Mea culpa.

Oh, "back" would have helped there. I thought you were talking about somebody who ran from South Carolina in the 60s.

So yeah, SF wins again. I was expecting a bit more out of em this week but I'm happy for the win either way. Smith may not be able to stand toe-to-toe with the best QBs in the league but goddamnit if he doesn't make me want to reconsider that opinion for a few minutes every game. Heres hoping they're back in tip-top shape in the coming weeks as they see a few more serious challenges. In the mean time, I'm happy to see them keep adding more numbers to that winning streak.

Agreed. It wasn't the prettiest of games, but a win is a win and that is the most important. Not only that, but other than the Rams (Congrats Digits on that first win), the rest of the NFC West continues to suck (How about those Cardinals for losing that lead). Things are really going well for the Red and Gold these days and I would be very surprised if Harbaugh doesn't win coach of the year if he continues having this team play the way they are.

This week, and really last week too, have been fairly frustrating as a Broncos fan. I didn't expect world-beating performances out of Tebow and most certainly did not expect him to turn the season around, but I've been hoping to see something that would be worth-while for the future. But for the first 3/4 of both games, he has looked terrible. He got hotter both games, but we need more than very end of games to be good. Last week, I still think the play calling was pretty lousy, and am willing to put a little bit on it. This week, I wasn't feeling great so I admittedly wasn't focusing all that much on what the play calling was, other than noticing that Tebow got more shots to throw it and that our rookie lineman was being made the Lions' d-line's bitch. I didn't expect Denver to be in this game, but I expected Tebow to look a bit better than that. I'm still hopeful that he'll show improvement, but if continues the way he's going, we're going to be getting a new QB in the draft. In fact, if the next few games resemble the last two, I won't be stunned if he gets pulled. He almost looks worse than he did last year.

Thank you, Dallas, for losing to my least favorite team in the entire NFL. God, you suck. Draft a defense and pick up Brandon Weeden in the 2nd round to stabilize your team at quarterback for a couple of years until you can get a franchise quarterback. Please. God knows he's more mature and capable than Romo at this point.

So, let's see.

Titans win. Bills win. Lions win and Saint Timmy is made a fool of. Patriots lose (sorry nevermore, lesser evil for anybody but the AFC North). Rams somehow beat the Saints. Eagles humiliate the Cowboys on national television.

That might have been the best NFL day in a long time. :techman:

That said - what the fuck Chris Johnson? I love you man, but even I'm starting to wonder if that megacontract was worth it and Ringer's looking like the clearly better back right now. It's a good thing Hasselbeck is as good as he is, cause Jesus Christ.

And if the Colts somehow end up with Andrew Luck, I'm gonna be so pissed off...

Always good to see "America's Team" lose. Having the Eagles play like a team that knows how to play football was a welcome change of pace (that's two in a row).

Some NFL guy kept saying that the lockout would hurt secondaries the most out of any position. I wonder if that's the case and players are finally adjusting to their new roles.

The Colts will end up with Luck. Aren't they winless so far? They'll need a new long term QB in another year or two at most, sooner if Manning can't come back. Why wouldn't they get him? How is the draft order determined if there's more than one winless team? Someone please educate me. Is Miami still winless?

If Indy and Miami end the season with the same record, and if they don't play against one another (and I don't think they're scheduled to), whoever gets the better draft pick will depend on both teams' strength of schedule.

It would just be so wrong for the Colts to end up with Luck. They've had the best QB in football for the last decade, they don't need the second coming of Peyton too (if Luck lives up to half the hype).

Miami's still winless and the Cardinals only have 1 win. What did the Cards give up for Kolb, 1st or 2nd rounder? St. Louis only has 1 win, but they've got Bradford.

Seattle and Denver have 2 wins and need a QB.

Carolina, Minnesota and Jacksonville have 2 wins but have new franchise (or potential franchise) QBs.

Guess I'll have to root for the Colts to win just enough to do better than Miami. They deserve Luck to go with the new coach they'll surely be getting. :)

I'm still shocked the Colts are so terrible without Manning that they can't at least one game through sheer dumb luck. Although I suppose they are still the best situated (the NFC West teams play each other, which increases the odds of winning games).

But they play Jacksonville twice and Carolina at home. I'd like to think they'd at least win one of these games. I really would like to think they could win two, but I apparently can't even bring myself to suggest it in idle speculation.

Dolphins might be the best competition. They almost managed to win today, though. Have the Colts almost managed to win any game so far?
