I thought this was going to air on Friday (21st) but now I hear it's been moved to the 28th. I wonder what happened? Oh well, last I looked Once Upon a Time is still supposed to premiere this Sunday so I'll check it out first. (Being in Canada I'm not even going to bother to try and access the NBC site for the Grimm pilot.)

There's no way I have time to watch this early the way things are going these days-- in fact, probably the only way I'll be able to see it is if it's up on On Demand.

I've already given up on following The Vampire Diaries and The Clone Wars. I'll let them pile up and hopefully they won't max out my DVR before, oh I dunno, maybe I'll have some time around Xmas when everything else is on hiatus?

That was announced around the time things were looking bad for Playboy Club. I wonder if NBC was getting a little panicky and trying to put more promotion behind Grimm, to give it the best possible chance of success?

I'm taking a few days off next week after my Brother's wedding, so I'll probably have time to catch it then if it's available.

NBC giving a show a chance for success!?!? :rommie:

They better give something a chance of success, or their whole new fall season is going to be another shut-out for them. That new guy they brought in from cable to run things is probably thinking about the unemployment line about now...

(I decided to actually go check, and it looks like a couple of NBC's new comedies have been a success by their low standards. I've given up on network comedies - too bland for my tastes - so I never pay any attention to whether they do well or poorly.)

^ Back in the day networks would at least attempt to give a show a shot...now the first sign of trouble they pull the plug. :sigh:

I am thinking people who liked 'Once Upon A Time' on ABC...won't have the same fuzzy feelings with 'Grimm'.

Watched the Grimm pilot - really liked it. Which makes me feel worse that it's in such a doomed timeslot. :(

Well, obviously I can't speak for everyone, but after watching the 20 minute preview of Grimm I'm eager to see the rest of it...and I watched the pilot of Once Upon a Time and really liked it. They have very different approaches and I like them both. :bolian:

I'm waiting for the show about an ancestor of Dr. Seuss who sees Whos from Whoville everywhere.

I'm joking, of course. I'll check out this show sometime! :)

Don't feel too bad - that timeslot also means lowered expectations. Which is why NBC put it in that timeslot to begin with.

A live-action Dr. Seuss series sounds awesome! :D

I don't know, from what I've seen they look different enough that I think people will have no problem liking both.

I get the impression that Grimm isn't going to take as innovative an approach to its fairy tale characters as OUAT, but that of course remains to be seen.

Grimm isn't Once upon a Time, Grimm is Supernatural.

I liked that line.: "Puh-lease... Humans have been profiling my kind for the last 200 years."

It's not great.

I'm looking forward to the flash back of his aunt killing those buggers by the bushel and the pound just wading through a valley of corpses like a less apologetic Bruce Lee.

Or...

Is she just a feeble old women who sneaks up on them while they're sleeping to brain them with a mallet? or do the Grimm's get a few more super powers like a little bit of sped and strength to level the playing field?

From what I've read and seen there are no actual fairly tale characters in Grimm. The hero hunts races of monsters based on things from fairy tales.

Not quite getting the distinction...the characters in OUAT could also be the "real" inspirations for fairy tales as far as we know, with the "real" characters being different from the stories in some important ways. (Which is what I meant by "innovative" - changing the characters to make them more interesting.)

Anyway, baseball might pose "grim" news.

MLB’s decision to postpone tonight’s Game 6 of the World Series to tomorrow night because of bad weather means that if the series goes to a seventh game, it will likely air on Friday, against the series premiere of Grimm and the final season premiere of Chuck on NBC.
Eh...what's the overlap between baseball fandom and genre TV fandom? I don't give a flip about the World Series personally. Could be good counter-programming.

I don't know if baseball will have an impact...hope not.

One more day till the premiere...I might re-watch it live. :)

The premise was interesting, but I really dislike the lead actor. His face, and especially his expressions, are very off-putting and unlikeable.

There's also already a lot of really bad writing so far. The first monster he has a genuine encounter with turns out to be a good guy who helps him track down one of his own people? And his boss just happens to be a monstrous mastermind? And his aunt is not only a hunter, but a super legendary kung fu hunter, and is completely unaware that the chief of police or whatever he is was said mastermind?

A bit too ham-fisted for my tastes. If the lead was more likeable, I might give it more of a chance, but as it stands he really turns me off from the show.

On the list of "things you don't want to have happen for a TV series premiere", facing a World Series Game 7 has to rank right up there with "hope OJ isn't driving his Bronco tonight". But sadly for NBC, such is the situation for tonight's premiere of Grimm.

Again with the baseball.

World Series Game 6 didn't hurt the CW shows, as Vampire Diaries was steady with last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 to a 1.3 rating. Secret Circle was up a tenth (11%) to a 1.0 adults 18-49 ratings.

Hoping for the same with Grimm...the World Series didn't hurt the CW shows last night...hopefully the same will be for the premiere of Grimm...which is on NBC...a slightly better network. :p
