I wonder if when the Justice League meets if Aquaman is pretty much like an annoying little kid wanting to help his dad fix the car.

"Can I help?! Can I help?!"

Batman: "Sure, AC. You can, um... Here hold the flashlight."

SIGH, you guys just refuse to let go of the 70's stigma that SuperFriends placed on Aquaman.

Just wait till issue 4, I'm sure you'll have an excuse for it but just wait.

"It's okay, Aquaman. You're important too. Sure, sure, Superman can do everything you can than plus a zillion other things, but there's plenty for you to do around here. Both you and Flash are very important to us and we'd hate to lose you."

Amphibious, superstrong and a telepath. I think he might be able to do more than hold a flashlight. I think the guy who's just a human in a bat themed suit is clearly the designated flashlight holder. They can let him call it a "Bat-Light" to make him feel better.

Or go back and read Morrison's run on Justice League. Aquaman was pretty bad ass there.

Currently Batman is acting like the leader of them...he's the only one who seems to have his shit together. It will be interesting to see what happens when we flash forward.

When has Superman abandoned his "kids"? That was only created for Young Justice. He was a mentor to Connor when he finally accepted him in the previous continuity. Who do you think gave Connor his names? He's never been a father figure in the comics. A mentor yes, but not like Bruce with all the Robins.

Yeah the only major problem with Bats as the leader might be his sort of JLI membership though.

Considering the "human in a bat themed suit" seems to be the only adult in the room with the NuJLA I'd take him over the other yahoos.

True though from JLI it doesn't look like Batman changes that much.

There is also the whole Superman Returns thing.

That being said I was only trying to point out that when you think about it Batman isn't nearly as bad as some of the other DC heavy hiters.

He didn't know about Jason though. That doesn't count. Batman leading the Justice League would never happen. He cares and is obsessed with protecting too much. I could see him being their operations and tactical adviser and providing them with tech like he has previously. They way they've been promoting Vic Stone in the books, I could easily see him being leader of the League.

Aquaman and Wonder Woman haven't entered the room yet. Remains to be seen if their backgrounds in leadership ( they are after all royalty) factor into things and how "adult" they will be portrayed. Given Johns "Aqua-love" of late, Arthur might get the nod.

I have to admit, it would be kind of interesting and cool to see WW lead the group for once. Don't have a good enough read yet on what this current version is like, but the WW of the JLU cartoon was certainly strong and capable enough.

It's very interesting that Johns is writing Justice League because there is of course the following characters he has written in it: Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), The Flash (Barry Allen), Superman (Clark Kent), Cyborg (Vic Stone) (Teen Titans and Flashpoint), and finally Aquaman (Arthur Curry). Arthur (really because Mera though) and Vic are his latest personal projects. It will be interesting to see how he writes Diana of five years ago, her book takes place in the 52 Verse present, I'm guessing she might be a little more like her Justice League animated series when we first meet her...and Johns hasn't much experience writing Batman. He wrote the script for Batman: Earth One one assumes before he started work on Justice League.

I liked Hal informing Barry that Batman is real and "He's a total tool."

Seriously, though, Bats seems the natural to organize and lead these folks. He's demonstrating that he thinks things through more than the others, because he does have to avoid that nasty getting-stepped-on-by-gods thing. There are inevitably going to be many times when he can't be in the middle of whatever fight's going down, so let him strategize and call the plays.

^ Like I said though his obsession with putting Gotham first in his war on crime is the only thing keeping him leading the league. The thing with Justice League International is different since it is already part an ongoing investigation and we know he's not the leader in Batman, Inc. So it will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the origin arc and when we flash forward at the start of issue seven.

I hope Johns keeps to the "Hal/Bruce tolerate one another at best" thing. It has always made a lot of sense to me, even eliminating Emerald Twilight from consideration.

You'd think the Space Cop and the Science Cop would be Batman's best pals.

Barry and Bruce have been close before...as Barry mentioned in Flashpoint according to him they would talk all the time about forensics and stuff. Bruce hasn't really been friendly towards Hal since Parallax.

Barry, Hal, Bruce and Katar should have formed a Law and Order wing of the JLA.
