Two And A Half Men (CBS) Ashton Kutcher!!!

Ep 3 was funny...don't know how long before Walden behaving like a man-child will become annoying...not nearly as funny as Charlie's antics. The stuff with Judith gave me a good chuckle. :)

I didn't watch this show before and I don't watch it now, but I'm curious what the general reaction to Kutcher has been

From what I've observed, the internet reaction has been pretty negative...even before his first episode aired.

The ratings so far suggest that what the internet thinks doesn't matter a lick, not surprisingly.

Yes I know there has been scepticism, but now that a few episodes have aired I'm wondering if people are coming around or what.

I loved the old show, as escapist humor. It was like a twinkie. Tasted good, not much substance.

I've watched the first three episodes of the new version, and...I don't know. I don't think Kutcher's character is very believable. He's all over the map. And they way the other characters relate to him just...doesn't feel right. At least, not yet.

I'll give it a little more time, but for right now it's just...weird.

It's kind of like having 2 Jakes around.

Yeah. I can see that.

It's been alright. I think they are still trying to figure out what to do with Kutcher. And it's REALLY weird when there are scenes with him and his ex without anyone else. It's like watching a whole other sitcom.

In other words, he's fine.

John Cryer, though, has been on fire. He's still funny. And I feel like other members of the cast have been given more to do. Berta's great.

To me, Alan has been FAR more entertaining than he has in years now that he's no longer being portrayed as batshit insane. I really hated what they did with his character the past 2 or 3 seasons and they seem to have completely dropped that with Sheen leaving.

Berta's always been the best character. Her lusting after Walden and fighting with Alan over who gets the guest bedroom was hilarious. :)

Just finished watching ep 4...probably the funniest ep so far. Courtney played by Jenny McCarthy was back...I enjoyed her when she was on the show before and have always been a fan of Jenny. :adore: Alan managed to get rid of Courtney and Berta...at least out of the house. Still not sold on Kutcher...not sure what they have planned as an endgame for the series since Charlie is gone...but we will see.

Basically my feelings about the show now. I watched until about a season and half ago then lost interest but with all the Vatican Assassin Warlock shenanigans this summer i had to see how it turns out.

Cryer is fantastic, always has been and now he's got even more to do and show off.. if push comes to shove he may be the one to save the show.

I don't know what they will do with Kutcher.. he's like a wet towel just laying there. Last episode i thought it would be awesome if he hustled the golddigger (awesome hot Jenny McCarthy and a hilarious scene with Jake) and turned out to be this fantastic Jekyll and Hyde character where he gets nowhere in life but can outfox any woman to get some fun.. but he's clueless there too so there goes.

Let's see if they can use Kutcher to carry the show.. so far the character is too thin and the show rests on Cryers shoulders (which i'm fine with).

I don't think they need to use Kutcher to carry the show as long as Cryer and Conchata Ferrell are around. IMO both of the characters they play have been great this season.

In the earlier seasons, Berta was my favorite character so I'm glad to see her getting more screen time with Charlie Sheen's departure.

It's not about if they need Kutcher to make a big impact.. the whole season and show was advertised with him as the big new lead and if he or his character bombs the entire show may be cancelled.

CBS has taken a risk by continuing the show and if it doesn't pay off according to their goals (which may be too high) they might pull a "Well.. it was worth a shot" style shrug.. Cryer and Ferrell be damned (and i could watch an entire show with both of them alone).

They should get rid of Kutcher and simply add the rest of the Hot Shots! cast. They already have Wash Out and Rabinowitz, and well, Topper.

So far, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Even if Walden Schmidt remains dull compared to Charlie Harper, that doesn't matter unless it's reflected in the show's ratings which are still going strong for the time being--the show's still pulling in 4m more viewers each week than the next tier of CBS sitcoms (Big Bang Theory and Mike & Molly) and remains one of the most-watched shows on TV. It would really have to crash and burn in a spectacular way before CBS would cancel it.

Last nights ep was funny. Walden & Berta...Alan's thing with his girlfriend being in a softcore porn movie...Lyndsey's joke about Melrose Place. Missing from this ep was Jake...but as people have already stated Kutcher's character is like having another Jake.

[edit] All the hot bikini girls were nice too.

The Melrose Place joke was unexpected and had me cracking up.

Also weird to see Alan come clean about all the stupid shit he's done. I thought the writers were just going to conveniently forget all of that in resetting his character with Sheen's departure.

:cardie:I think this will be the last season, there's no real click like the old show.

:cardie::eek::wtf::wtf::eek:

Well... I guess the other 15 MILLION people are wrong.... :wtf:

Unless it SHEDS viewers like no other show, it will get another season. It's STILL doing a lot better than MOST shows on the air.
