Breaking Bad - Season 4

Is it over-thinking things to wonder if maybe Walt did poison Brock but not with the Ricin? Maybe something less heinous (not fatal)? Taking the Ricin from Jesse's cigarettes was just to make him think it was the Ricin?

Yeah, I had this theory but then it didn't really make sense when I wrote it down.

Obviously we are meant to think that Walt could have done it. If it turns out he did I'm not sure how I'd feel really. Depends how they framed it in the show.

Can you live through Ricin? Somehow this doesn't seem nearly as heinous if the kid lives.

But here's the thing. If Walt poisoned Brock with something less harmful than ricin, than Jesse would figure out that Brock wasn't poisoned with the ricin hidden in his cigarette which means that Gus never got his hands on it which would leave Jesse wondering what happened to his ricin cigarette and why Gus would poison Brock with something less harmful than ricin.

Has anyone come across any spoilers on the BB finale? I have been having a hard time finding any to ease my feelings of anxiously waiting for Sunday.

Well, there was that picture of Gus. And the title is "Face Off." I'm also not counting on Gus surviving the episode. Let's make it a bloodbath!

Here's a non-spoilerific spoiler that Cranston gave in an interview yesterday.

There's a big shocking moment towards the end of the episode. Then there's a scene where two characters have a conversation, reveal some things and tie up loose ends. Then the final scene is outside at a familiar location, there's no actors involved, the camera zooms in on an object and once you clearly see what that object is you'll have a "holy shit!" moment. Cut to black.

Speculation on what the object may be:
1) The plant in Walt's garden
2) Hank's GPS device attached to Walt's car
3) A random plane crash

Yeah, it's either going to end with Walt in charge of Gus' operation, or at least Gus out of the way so Walt can finally build his own drug empire. At this point he has to, since he has no money. And I bet they will bring his cancer back so he'll have that extra motivation to rake it in as quickly and ruthlessly as possible. ;)

They could throw in a twist that Walt's cancer had already came back which Walt learned in his doctor's appointment earlier in the season and kept it to himself so he can focus completely on the Gus situation.

Out-of-universe, there are other indications that Walt did it. Bryan Cranston has said that Walt does something at the end of this season that is shocking and will make the audience hate him. Also, in this week's Inside Breaking Bad video Giancarlo Esposito ambiguously suggests that Gus didn't know about the poisoning until Jesse told him at the hospital.
On Letterman Friday night Cranston didn't say that Walt "does" something in the finale, but he did say that there would be a shocking revelation at the end and that the camera would zoom in on an object. This object, he implied would tell us something shocking about Walt. But lets keep in mind that this will be a season ender so the object might be a red herring.

Seems to me that it would make more sense for Walt to have done the poisoning than Gus. It just was not set up for Gus doing the poisoning for it to make sense. But with this show, you just never know.

Here he is on Letterman. Watch the whole interview.

- I wonder how many takes they did with Walt spinning the gun so that it would point to him.

I saw some behind-the-scenes material that said it was set up with a clear plastic dowel and wires; unfortunately this isn't just Bryan being awesome like with the roof pizza. :P

I knew it! I knew it! I knew Walt poisoned Brock. It makes sense that he poisoned him with something that would harm him for a time but not kill him. He just wanted Jesse to think Gus poisoned the kid with ricin to bring Jesse onto his side.

Good news: Gus is gone.

Slightly bad news: the detail of Brock being poisoned with the lily of the valley I suspect is going to have Jesse a bit curious. When did Brock get his hands on that? And when he finds out from Brock or Brock's mother that the kid never get his hands on something like that, it is going to make Jesse even more curious which would mean big trouble for Walt.

Bye bye Gus! Bye bye Super Lab! We'll miss you two.

I fear deating Gus is going to increase Walt's ego. Gus was a threat not only to Walt's life and the lives of his family but to Walt's manhood. Walt has grown to appreciate being the man in charge and Gus stood in the way of that, reducing Walt to the role of the man working for the man in charge. Now that he has defeated Gus, Walt will never put himself in that kind of situation ever again and an increased ego makes Walt more dangerous than before.

Skylar has seen how much violence Walt or rather Heisenberg is capable of and she is scared shit-less of "the man who knocks." I can't wait for her to find out what happened to Ted next season. Will it scare her away from being Walt's accomplice or harden her for what it needs to be done for her family?

Wow! What a finale. That was some real edge-of-your-seat television. I knew that was it for Gus when the music started playing as he left his car and walked across the lot. And you guys were right. Walt did poison the kid. That wasn't as big a shocker as it could have been though, because of this discussion.

I wonder what direction the show will take now. This episode had a lot of finality to it. Gus is dead, the super lab has been torched and Walt and Jesse are out. This could have worked as a series finale, but with another season to go, stubborn Walt will continue on and it looks like it's back to square one. And as mentioned, I can see Walt ultimately being taken down by Jesse.

I'm betting it now will come down to Walt vs. Hank and the DEA and maybe Jesse too if he finds out about Brock and Jane.

Great finale. So, Cranston did drop a sizable spoiler on Letterman. Yes, it really made no sense in the context of what had been presented, that Gus would turn out to be the poisoner.

Very sorry to see Giancarlo Esposito go though. What an intriguing character and great performance. He should get a Best Supporting Emmy nomination, at least.

Hector got his revenge. The guy was willing to off himself just to get Gus. He must have gotten his only erection in 30 or 40 years when he heard Gus scream. Great episode.

There was a sense of poetry that Tio was the one who killed Gus, completing the destructive cycle of revenge that began when Tio killed Gus's partner and friend Max.

This was an awsome finale. I love that Walt really took control and checkmated Gus. The one element that is missing is, Mike could still be floating around. We never really saw him die, did we? Also, the APD is not going to just drop this, nor will Hank. It seems that Walt is on top for now, but I doubt that will last very long. My hope is that everything will resolve itself all nice and neat, but I know that is not realistic. Glad to see Odenkirk one more time, love this guy.

Jessee is either going to figure out that Walt postings Brock and kill Walt or Walt will weasel himself out of it again and Walt will die of cancer. Either way, I think Walt will die in the end. It's so hard to predict the major plot lines of this show. I do believe Walt's family will be ok though.

The moral of the story is that if you're superbadass cool, never afraid to look death in the eye, you can do anything, just like Gus and Walt, and be a winner.
