I couldn't find a thread discussing this, so I figured I would see if anybody else is excited about this movie! It looks like a parody of the backwater killer genre in the same vein as Shaun of the Dead.

The premise - it's a movie starring Alan Tudyk and Tayler Labine as two rednecks living in a dilapidated woodland shack who encounter a group of preppy teens. When one of the teens is "abducted" by the two, the rest of the teens make several attempts to try to rescue her during which they inadvertently get themselves killed.

    Here is the trailer.

The film's IMDB page lists it as a 2010 release. I wonder if it was held back from general release for some reason.

Given it has an 88% on RT it can't be due to the fear of critical backlash.

I watch a ton of horror films so of course I checked this out. It's not perfect, but I found it pretty amusing. The two leads are particularly good. You could do a lot worse.

I generally dislike the horror/teen slasher movie genres but Tucker & Dale is hilarious due to its two leads and the absolute brain crazy stunts they get thrown into while being totally innocent.

Together with Zombieland, Army of Darkness and Shaun of the Dead they are the very few "horror" movies i actually watch. Highly recommended! :techman:

Yeah it does show a familiarity with the slasher genre, particularly the backwoods variety (and in particular it has moments that recall The Burning). And it does have blood. But this is definitely a comedy before horror, not a horror film with some jokes. It's one of those things with a great idea at the center that they could have easily botched but didn't.

I'd say it's better than Zombieland, Army of Darkness or Shaun of the Dead, but I am fully aware of my opinion being in the minority on those films.

It's not showing at a single theater in my entire state. Typical. First, Attack the Block, and now this.

Yeah. It probably won't be showing here either. I'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD.

Odd that the film was made for a 2010 release. I wonder what the reason for the delay is.

I had no idea Taylor Labine has been doing so much! The last thing I saw him in was Invasion! :)

Yeah. The closest theater it is playing at in in Dubuque, IA - about 3 hours away! I'm not sure why it isn't coming to Des Moines.

Ouch! Forgotten already? You were just down ther
It's currently playing at the Harkins Valley Art Theater in Tempe, AZ. I saw it last Saturday night. (Hardly anyone else was in the theater since it seemed like everyone else was at the ASU football game.) It's a lot of fun. The premise is better than the execution but it's very cute & sweet.
