A year has passed since House ran Wilson's car into Cuddy's living room -- and House has spent most of it in prison. While picking up the threads of his life again, minus Cuddy, he flashes back to memorable scenes from prison life.

House returns Monday night at 9pm/8 Central on Fox for possibly its final season. There's some major cast changes (most notably the loss of Lisa Eddelstein and Olivia Wilde and decreased use of Robert Sean Leonard) a reduced budget and possibly some damages to the character with him going over the line last season's finale. (Not to mention the season as a whole, IMHO, going a bit off the rails losing even more focus on the "medical mystery" aspect.)

But, here we are back for another season of Dr. Gregory House who's supposedly a world-renowned, board-certified, diagnostician with a double specialty in infectious diseases and nephrology. With luck the first episode or two will redeem his character and make it somewhat believable he gets his license and job back at PPTH.

I can't bring myself to watch any more of this show which has an annoying talent of creating more darkness than light in its stories. And how much pain, misery, and tragedy can you put the central character through. He's turning into another Tommy Gavin, a character who went through far more than his fair share of tragic losses and misery throughout the run of his show Rescue Me. I understand that there are people out there who are difficult to change but that doesn't mean House can't have some amount of happiness in his life that isn't tainted or damaged. Give the guy a break!

It's funny...because that's exactly how I feel about Supernatural and why I refuse to watch that show any more and didn't last year either.

As for House I'm sticking it out to the bitter end. He's an interesting enough character to me to make up for the deepening misery. I'm really hoping something good can come out of his time in prison, maybe he'll see that things could be worse and stop acting like he'll get a pass on everything just because he has a bad leg and a bad attitude. We'll see tomorrow I suppose. At least the writers have made him pay the consequences for his actions this time.

I hate House. There were always bits during the show that made him seem redeemable, slightly sympathetic or interesting. After last season, I just hate him, and I really hope hubby doesn't make me watch this season, because I just want House to go away and die.

yeah, i liked it as well. hopefully the show can get back to basics.

^^^ Was gonna say! We still have a few more hours to go down here.

Yeah, I'm in the "ride the wave all the way to the beach" camp myself. It's been a fun trip over the years with its ups & downs, and I'm going to watch it all the way to the end.

Same. And frankly I don't give a damn about this show anymore. They've taken a character with more than his share of flaws and thrown him off a cliff.

@ AliciaD496: Good luck. I can't and I won't. They drove me away last season with all the crap they pulled and with the actress who played Cuddy leaving. The show is practically dead to me.

@ the G-man:  Definitely.

Pretty much the way I feel. In the first few seasons House was simply a misanthropic asshole. Now, he's pretty much criminally a sociopath.

I mean is the House who drove his car through Cuddy's house, risking killing people, and then skipped-town to a beach location the same House who in Season-1 lied to a transplant board to ensure a woman a donor heart? An act that put his career at risk and when asked why he did this for a woman he did not know he simply responded with a, "Because you're my patient."

This is a man who was shown to be someone who would do anything to save a patient or to at the very least solve the "puzzle" of what they were suffering from.

The character we got for the last half or so of the previous season was not the House character that drew me into this show.

They need to fix and redeem this character, fast, and also get this show more on track with the Medical Mystery premise rather than the personal life bullshit bullshit.

I mean I don't care at all about Taub and him getting his ex-wife and girlfriend pregnant. I want to see House's bizarre ways of practicing medicine and solving "cases." I want DDx and white board scenes, I want clinic patients.

Dammit! I want my show back!

Hit the nail on the head there. The whole driving his car into Cuddy's house thing was just crazy with a capital C. I don't think they can redeem his character now. He's gone TOO far down the road to insane to ever get to any kind of redemption. As for being the same as in season 1, I don't agree on that.

At least House had some scruples there. Now he doesn't. He doesn't care period. Add in the drugs and the sex with any woman, he's just a loser.

That was a typo. I meant to say the House we got for the last-half of last season was not the same House we got at the beginning of this series. I'd argue the character has not been the same for about two seasons now.

I see. My bad . Definitely. It's like they've been on drugs for the last two seasons for lack of a better way of putting things.

Random Spock: Thank God, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed. Not only is House becoming a bearer of constant misery, craziness, and emotional damages, the other characters are becoming either unlikeable or the shells of the characters we used to like. And they see all the lines House cross and the rules he break and instead of effectively standing up to him or quitting their jobs out of protest, they just let him get away with it with little protest. It has gone beyond unrealistic.
