Chris Carter is returning to TV with "Unique"

what the hell is Media Rights Capitol? Is this going to be on a major channel?

Also, that premise doesn't sound very "Unique" anymore

I miss his old surfer hair cut :p

Was the title "Cliche" already taken?
 That's what I thinking as well. No offense Chris, but there are way too many of these kinds of shows out there already.

I'll be most likely not watching this. As big of an X-Files fan I was and still am... I'm going through police procedural show overload O_O.

I'm way more interested in the end of that article:

Last month, Anderson told an Australian morning show that there's talk of a third X-Files feature. "I hope it happens," she said. "There's talk of it."

Yeah, that sounds much more interesting (relatively speaking; it'll need to be a rather considerable improvement on I Want to Believe) than the rather non-unique new show. I missed the interview in question but given I've been on a real X-Files kick for two or three months now, talk of a new movie appeals to me.

While I enjoyed I Want to Believe as a character piece, the X-Files needs a proper ending. Nearly every loose end was wrapped up in the series finale, but we still have one huge story thread remaining: the alien invasion of 2012. It's probably too late to get started on that movie and still have it finished in time, but it would be a fantastic thing to see.

Yeah, as a character piece I Want to Believe wasn't bad at all. As anything else, I thought it was pretty ordinary. The 2012 thing is the only real reason to bother making another X-Files movie, so if it happens that's what it needs to be about.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the loose ends being wrapped up in "The Truth". IMO that episode resolved very little, while simultaneously throwing the 2012 thing out there with every possibility of its never being resolved. Here's hoping it will be.

Well, I just meant that things got resolved enough to end the show there. The Truth will always be out there. It would kind of betray the premise of the show if Mulder and Scully truly learned everything that was going on. I rewatched the whole series last summer from the start to finish, and I was actually surprised with how many of the story threads were given explanations.

After the failure of "I Want To Believe", doing the 2012 alien invasion story is going to be problematic since it is not likely to get anything close to the budget it would need to do the concept justice. I think that the invasion story should be wrapped up in a novel.

As for the new series, I couldn't be less interested.

Hmm. While I loved The X-Files, Carter's other shows weren't that successful. Millennium was so-so but Harsh Realm and The Lone Gunmen were flops. I'd watch a new show out of curiosity but my expectations would be low.

That's pretty much how I viewed it as well. I enjoyed seeing M & S again and it would be nice for them to try and resolve what they can in a third movie.

@ RoJoHen: Agreed.

@ Temis the Vorta: Lmbo :guffaw:, nice one.

I doubt we would see a invasion in the style of Independence Day anyway, since it was clearly pointed out that there would apparently would be a massive (global?)infection by the so called "Black oil".

I think this new series might be interesting. I am certainly happy to see something new by Chris Carter, since I am a big fan of X-Files..and liked Millennium and Harsh Realm.
And since Dana Scully still is one of the best female characters in television history, I am looking forward for her new leading lady with great anticipation.
