Justice League: Doom (DCU Animated Movie) News

Out Of My Vulcan Mind

Vice Admiral

The voice cast for Justice League: Doom has been revealed in TV Guide:

Tim Daly as Superman
Kevin Conroy as Batman
Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern
Michael Rosenbaum as The Flash
Carl Lumbly as Martian Manhunter
Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman
Bumper Robinson as Cyborg

Lots of returning voice actors reprising their parts there. The movie, which is based on Mark Waid's "Tower of Babel" storyline from JLA, will be released early next year. The script is the last work written by Dwayne McDuffie before his death. Lauren Montgomery is the director and it's her last work on the DC line of animated movies as she's leaving Warners to take a job on The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra.

w00t! So thrilled with this cast! Best choices! "Justice League" series reunion of sorts. Epic!!

I might have given up on the comics, but it's great the animated DCU continues to come through. I hope this isn't yet another continuity reboot though and actually ties in with the JL and JLU TV series (I'm not familiar with this particular storyline). I wonder if the recent Blu-ray release of the earlier series might have a connection?

I'm just happy to hear they're still doing the animateds. Wasn't it around the time the Wonder Woman one came out that it was mentioned in this very BBS that there would be no more? Thankfully that was proven wrong.

Yeah, every one of them except Bumper Robinson is reprising a role they've played before. It's a shame, though, that they didn't get Khary Payton to reprise Cyborg. He was really good in the role on Teen Titans, and is even better as Aqualad on Young Justice. I'd love to hear his take on a different version of Cyborg.

I doubt there's any chance of that. After all, Hal Jordan didn't exist in the DCAU except briefly in an altered timeline (where he was played by a different Firefly alumnus, Adam Baldwin). And none of the DC Universe Original Animated Movies have continued the DCAU continuity, not even Crisis on Two Earths, which was originally written for the DCAU.

(Well, actually Hal Jordan did implicitly exist; we saw his name on a jet in the Superman: TAS episode "In Brightest Day." But they gave Kyle Rayner his origin story and costume.)

The actual news was that Warner Bros. was suspending further projects other than Superman, Batman, and Justice League stories (such as an adaptation of Teen Titans: The Judas Contract), due to disappointing sales. Although we did get Green Lantern: Emerald Knights as a movie tie-in.

Awesome voice cast. I was wondering when we would be getting some news on this. As I stated in the thread I first reported this in I'm a huge fan of Waid's Towel of Babel story which kind of seeds Batman's separation from the League and sets up later stuff for Infinite Crisis. Now...if Jason Issacs reprises Ra's al Ghul in this that would be awesome.

Warners has put a press release that reveals more of the voice cast (which includes more actors reprising their roles):

David Kaufman as Jimmy Olsen
Phil Morris as Vandal Savage
Olivia d'Abo as Star Sapphire
Alexis Denisof as Mirror Master
Carlos Alazraqui as Bane
Paul Blackthorne as Metallo
Claudia Black as Cheetah

Here are three pics from the movie (which has the same design team as Crisis on Two Earths and Young Justice):

Awesome voice cast. I know alot of people (myself included) were disapointed we didn't get more Nathan Fillion as Hal in Emerald Knights, so I'm glad to see he's back.
I like the art style. There's gonna be a sneak peek for this with B:YO isn't there?

The only ones new to their characters on this part of the list are Alazraqui, Blackthorne, and Black. Everyone else is reprising the role they played in the DCAU. And more, sort of, in d'Abo's case. She played Star Sapphire (with no secret identity established) in the DCAU, and played Carol Ferris (strictly as a civilian) in Green Lantern: First Flight.

So they seem to be reusing at least some of the Co2E designs, but with DCAU voices.

I really don't like that huge tiara on this design of Wonder Woman.

Wasn't he in an episode of 'Superman' where he was a cartoonist instead of a pilot?

Seriously Ra's better be announced soon because if he's not in this it isn't an adaption of "Tower of Babel" at all since he was a crucial plot point in it. Given the fact that he was responsible for stealing Batman's Justice League files and holding his parents hostage in an attempt at blackmailing him.

^Yup. Like I already said, "In Brightest Day" made Kyle Rayner the Green Lantern but gave him Hal Jordan's costume and origin story.
