Well...I think that was definitely a case of the episode suffering from the time constraints. They did a solid job of fitting Twilight winning her friends back, teaming up and defeating Discord into all of then minutes, but it could still have had more breathing room. The last scene especially could have lasted longer. Ah well. Such is life. So, yeah, I liked part one better. But then again, I can't think of a two-parter ever where the second half wasn't something of a letdown. (Except maybe BSG's "Exodus, part 2." But nothing is a good as that.)
Nice riff off the Star Wars medal ceremony in the last shot, however. And they got another window! Yes!

Just watched the repeat, it is rushed but its still an awesome ending.
Yeah, but they really pack those 22 minutes! I always get the feeling MLP could be an hour show if they were allotted that time.
Yet again, it's brilliant. Discord and Flutterjerk were awesomely evil. Discord is actually one of the best villains I've seen on any TV in an age. Really.
Of course, it was a bit of relief to get the normal ponies back, and Fluttershy still got a killer line:
'Um, I'm just wondering if it's ok if I hold you down against your will for a little bit?'
Can't wait for the rest of Season 2!

As it turns out, he ends up being in exactly the same position as he started. Who's to say someyhing similar doesn't happen again along with his return?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to some more 'normal' new episodes as well. It's nice to have the odd two parter defeating eternal night/chaos and all that, but when it comes down to it, a lot of the time I just want to see a good, brighter episode with the ponies and all their mental disorders.
Maybe we'll get Discord back in a season or two?

As much as I love the adventure episodes, I really far more interested in the slice of life episodes. Still, love those adventure episodes when they happen, and this was no different!

Not quite as great as the first part but still a good episode. Discord was great and Fluttershy, too. Poor Spike being sick from all the letters being sent back.
So Rarity gave the piece of rock a name, after all. This will be fodder for countless pics and fics to come. I loved the chaos scenes, especially the dancing buffalos.

So many good lines in this episode, their alternates were fun while they lasted, but I'm happy to have our Ponies back.

^The scene in part 1 with Celestia pacing back and forwards was literally cut bit for bit the same as Leia in Cloud City from Empire, they admitted themselves some of them are Star Wars fans, just a bit more overt about it this time
