Old Star Trek and Miscellaneous

Hi All

I have some old stuff from about 10 years ago that I found. I've yet to decide which ones to Sketchup.

So, any thoughts or preferences?

I love the SR-71-looking ship ... and the one labeled "Scout Crew 54" seems almost prescient -- the nacelles really remind me of those on the Kelvin.

Good call. I based it specifically on that wonderful Blackbird! Still the best plane in the world!

I guess the scout ship nacelles looking like the Kelvin's isn't too far a stretch. Draw enough ships and some are bound to be repeated by others. Someone probably drew similar ones 10 years before I did it 10 years ago!

Those are two of my favorites here to start with.

Looks Romulan to me. I can dig the Klingon feel it has but those curves feel slick and sneaky. Just like a proper Romulan. For what it's worth, it has my vote.

Probably stuff like signatures or other personally identifiable info.

ahh good idea i thought it was Star Wars Sketchs ^__^

I would have kept my sigs... But no- just boobs. I sketch boobs.

No seriously though, just junk that I wasn't worth showing.

Anyway- I've decided to start with the Scout yesterday. Here's what I've got so far.

You can see a little guy in one of the windows for scale. I still have to build the pylons, impulse, and an upper sensor platform that will extend up from the impulse deck.

I've decided that the point of the unconventional nacelle design is in response to the demand to reduce the warp signiture of the ship. In other words, it's a small ship that's hard to see with sensors.

The draw back from such heavy shielding is that it makes it slower. This is compensated by drawing the nacelles closer into the ship. The downside being that it increases the danger from radiation or other emergency recator issues. But again, the increased shielding also helps shield the crew from the radiation. On the other hand, we have an increase in mass, reducing the ships maneuvering speeds.

Advantages come with disadvantages. Otherwise everything would be perfect, wouldn't it?

This will be a tough one to make... Very curvy!

I really like that saucer detail.

Thanks!

I'd like to see a Front / Top view of this design.

I'll scan it... I've misplaced my art book!

And a little update. It's really coming along. I think the nacelles are a wee too large and I may shrink them just a bit.

It's very Kelvinesque from the side! I'm not opposed to the coincidence. I liked the Kelvin (despite it missing a nacelle ;))

Hi, I like this design, it's very neat! If someone were to unfold it in Peparakura(sp?) I'd love to build one in paper!
:)

Almost done

I've reduced the size of the nacelles a little.

Looks good as a small scout / Patrol ship :)

Always a kind word! :)

Thanks for digging so deep into the thread wall to check it out! I really should finish her.

And if you do make it in paper, I hope you post it here!
