What trek 09 might look like on tv

The editing is passable but the font and appearance of the credits that flash up is appalling.

The font was different but I don't think it was that bad. I also wanted to add that it was nicely edited.

The font is terrible.

I'm baffled why someone would go to all the trouble of editing and creating a reasonable approximation of a title sequence using footage from the film, and spoil it all with credits that look like they belong in a preschool program.

Why would you use TNG music and not something from the 09 soundtrack? And what's with that font?

It's a nice exercise in editing but anyone thinking this to be a passable attempt at a Star Trek TV show opening is sorely mistaken.

To be pedantic it was actually the TMP theme before it became the TNG opener.

To be extremely pedantic the tune is unambiguously the orchestration used for TNG rather than Goldsmith's ST:TMP version (which did not include the fan fare heard at the opening). In fact, it's the version used from Season Two onward, which eliminated a musical phrase that was part of both the TMP original and the first season TNG theme.

Because there's not a lot that's actually distinctive and memorable. The main leitmotif is so simple that you can mistake for about a dozen pieces of triumphant music from other sources.
