So who watched this season?

The first batch of episodes didn't make me laugh too hard, but once Larry got to New York, it was hysterical. My favorite one this year had to be when Larry and Jeff want to invest in the inventor and test drive the periscope car through the city.

The Michael J. Fox episode was my favorite. Props to Mr. Fox for being a good sport and having a sense of humor about his condition. It was so good to see Mike in something again. I've really missed it. I loved Leon's jab. "Michael J. Fox is about to be Michael J. Fucked Up in a minute!"

Anyone else watching?
 
I think New York was a great fit for the show although I thought The Palestian Chicken episode might have been the funniest one of the year. Loved the Mr. Softee episode and Michael J. Fox was great.
 
Liked almost every episode, but maybe not the Rosie O'Donnell one.

Loved how they reinvented and showed the Kramer idea of the Car Periscope
 
Haven't enjoyed it as much as previous seasons. Dunno, but I felt there should have been more done with the show being in NY. My favourites were the one with the baseball player and the one with Micheal J. Fox.
 
The only thing holding this season back was a solid arc. Other than going to NY this season didn't really have one and it ended up feeling kind of aimless.
 
I was wary of an arc-less storyline this season, but I found many, many reasons to laugh and enjoy the show anyway. Personal highlights for me:

--My friend Denny was cast in a rather large role in an episode (She was the girl who wanted Larry to keep her from eating any pastries in the Palestinian Chicken episode).

--"She di'nt come upstairs, 'cuz she came downstairs!"

--Larry vs. Ricky Gervais.

--Susie in the Prius and Larry's reaction to it.

--The origin of "Pretttay, prettay, prettay good!"

--The explanation Larry gives to the little (gay?) boy about Hitler: "He started a war. He didn't like the Jews. He thought they were a bit much."

--Leon. In a beret. Wearing a "USA" T-shirt. Eating a chilupa. In Paris. :lol:

About the only thing I had an issue with was that I kinda missed Chery's presence this season.

"It's a good thing he didn't hand you a dick, he'd shake it all up and then it'd shoot sperm in your face."

I wouldn't say this was top Curb but even so there were some great moments. The best Curbs like Seinfeld come from the moments coming together as a whole even stronger than its parts which I think was lacking a bit.

I miss Funkhouser too. Super Dave is the best.
 
Yeah, what it missed was the character. It didn't have as much character as previous seasons, but instead had lots of good moments. Other than that though? Could have easily happened in LA, and that's what I mean when I say they could have more done with NY. LA was almost a character in itself on the show, but what's ironic is that while NY itself is iconic, there wasn't really anything that stood out as a reason for filming in NY.

With the finale though, it does make me hope to see a full season with Larry in some foreign country. Oh, the trouble he could get into. I also did miss Cheryl. She added quite a lot to the show and kept Larry in check
 
One thing that I like about season 8 is the open ending, that suggets that we most likely get another season. Looking forward to 2013 already!

Yeah, I thought it could have used a season-long story arc. But it still produced some damn funny television.

Funkhouser was missed in the later episodes but he was GREAT in The Palestian Chicken.

I thought the same thing when he married into the Blacks but they quickly went back to the status qui.

Yes he was! Funkhouser improves everything.
 
I was scared at the beginning of the season that Larry was going to find a way to get rid of Leon. He's been one of the best things to happen to the show. I want him to stay until the end. Everything he says is priceless.

I was hoping Ricky Gervais would have more pf a presence this season. I thought he was going to be in a few of the episodes rather than only one.

The entire season is still on Demand for the moment. I might go back through it before it's gone and I have to wait a few months before getting the DVDs. I'm not sure where I would rank this season against the others. I really miss Cheryl being there and hope she makes a return at some point in the future. She's the perfect foil for Larry.

I agree. I thought there should have been more of him as he seems like he would have been a good fit for one of Larry's friends or enemies throughout the season. I found the self-reference to Extras a little annoying though as I found that series to be too self-deprecating, weird and not very enjoyable.

I really miss Cheryl being there and hope she makes a return at some point in the future. She's the perfect foil for Larry.

I also agree. I was happy to see they would likely get back together at the end of last season, only to have her leave him again at the beginning of this one, and it was sad to see her leave. She added a nice dynamic, so I hope they can find someone that can have the same effect. His new girlfriend doesn't have that as she seems too understanding. He needs a counterpoint.
 
I don't really miss Cheryl. I like that Larry has no one around to hold him back; it makes things more unpredictable.
 
I thought the LA episodes were stronger than the NY ones. I missed Funkhouser and Richard Lewis in the later episodes, and could have used more of Jeff, too. But I don't miss Cheryl at all. Cheryl is not a funny character, she just became a nag. I like Larry free to run amok, and it's funnier when he's busted by Susie or Wanda or someone with more personality than Cheryl.

Susie in the broken car seat was the funniest scene of the season, of course. Some other memorable points:

"Gloves don't catch gloves!"

"That was a shit-bow."

Richard Lewis being stood up at the restaurant.

Robert Smigel as the softball team manager, basically doing the straight Triumph voice.

"You know what people say when you leave a room? 'Poor bastard.'"
