Well I finally understand why they have an Italian family name then. It wouldn't be impossible in Civil War-era Virginia, but it certainly struck me as unusual.

    From the TCA interview:

Good. I'm finding the teen angst part of TVD a bit hard to take. Although sadly there's going to be another teen love triangle in this show, too. Ergh.

I watched the pilot yesterday. While not bad, it's not great either. The pilot definitely felt very rushed. So for now, I'll keep watching it because of Britt.

    Saw the first episode.

    - Lots of pretty girls.

    - Nice to see Phoebe Tonkin again.

    - I thought the lead was one of the Panabaker sisters.

    - I liked the "corruption of power" angle with Tonkin's character.

    - I wouldn't mind knowing what the previous generation did that went wrong.

Those are the highlights I noticed. Beyond that, I wasn't impressed, but then again, I wasn't expecting to be. I doubt I'm part of their target audience. Or maybe I am. It had pretty girls.

Well Phoebe Tonkin/Faye I hate...so they succeded with making her a horrible character for Cassie/Britt Robertson...The lead...I assume you mean her...she was the main character on CW show Life Unexpected...she rocked it then and she rocks it now...love Britt.

I think they focused too much on Cassie, Diana, Faye & Adam(AKA John Conner). Melissa & Nick didn't get anything for those characters...reminds me of TVD S1 when Jeremy, Bonnie & Matt got ignored alot. :( Natasha Henstridge as Dawn Chamberlain...the Principle was nice. ;)

^ Yeah, Britt Robertson was the lead I was referring to. And I forgot to mention Natasha Henstridge. You know the years are passing when you turn on the TV and see her as "the principal". :rommie:

^ She sure was... 10 years ago. IMO years have not been very kind to her.

^ It's not really about age... something about her just doesn't work for me anymore.

I enjoyed it, it wasn't anything amazing right now, but it definitely has potential to get really good. Does anyone know how much it has to do with the books? Would it be a good idea to read them?

    Painful.

    Derivative and painfullier.

Point Pleasant had a better pilot.

Well, I'm not gonna judge it too quickly. It could get better, but so far I like the book (I've only read the 1st one so far) better. I know that LJ Smith's characters in her books are pretty one dimensional, but I like the story of the first book better.

I like how in the book, over the summer Cassie meets this boy she can't stop thinking about, and then he ends up being Diana's boyfriend, and it's this big OMG moment. The connection between them makes total sense and you actually feel something about it. Whereas in the show, they almost kiss out of nowhere and you don't feel anything about it! Although this might make sense later with the whole written in the stars thing.

Anywhoo, for now I give it a 2.5 out of 5. I hope the story and plot builds up to something nice, like in Vampire Diaries.

PS....Fay, not as badass as in the book. (but pretty!)
