Man, if Grifter is any indication of how the WildCATs people are gonna be integrated, Voodoo is gonna suck hard. But Ron Marz wrote such great Silver Surfer and pleasant Green Lantern comics, so maybe it won't be awful? Also, buying his comic might piss off Scott "Omnipresent" Lobdell, which is value in itself.

Oh, I have a production question regarding OMAC. OMAC has an editor. OMAC is written by Dan DiDio. What, then, does the editor on OMAC actually do?

Maybe they didn't just deage all the characters, but also everyone writing and drawing them too, because that's pretty fucking juvenile.

They made Waller thin?! That's ridiculous. Pissed me off when they did it in the GL movie too.

 

Oprah's weight yoyos all the time and she's a real person as well as a commercial brand.

 

They're going to third printings for Justice League, Batgirl and Action #1.

So far Action has been my favorite, followed by Justice League. Green Lantern #1 was somewhat disappointing, which is odd since it's one of my favorites and not really changed so far.

I did like Carol just remarking that she hasn't been playing Star Sapphire since she came home. Woman has a life.

 

Action didn't make any sense.

That wasn't Superman.

Morrison knows who Superman is but he's writing this punk version for some reason.

It's especially odd if no one else is writing this punk.

Maybe it will all tie together after I read a few more issue ones?

 

Superman is going to "grow up" a bit in this first Action Comics story arc. I hope he still says a little bit critical of the status quo though.

 

I had no time to read last night but I did pick up Resurrection Man and Demon Knights.

Flipped through them all but especially Superboy to see this back door entrance for Gen 13. Who wants to bet next summer we see a Gen-13 #1 spun off?? I'd wager next summer is wave two of the new 52, so to speak. JSA, Captain Marvel, Question, Icon and others as a way to keep interest up in the nuDCU.

I hastily flipped through Suicide Squad and must have missed thin Amanda Waller and if they were posted up thread I can't see them now due to work filters on images.

Nice to know Ray Palmer has shown up somewhere. Not having read it he sounds as out of place in a Frankenstein book as J'onn does in Stormwatch but nice to hear he's accounted for.

I'll read my books tonight time permitting. I like what I've heard on Demon Knights so I'm realy curious on that one. Resurrection Man was an optimistic buy. If there are copies left I might break down and get Mr.Terrific and Batwoman both of those looked good as I flipped through them.

 

Read the "other" Action Comics #1. You'll get an idea who this Superman is.

We'll see how much Superman has changed in Superman #1, which is set in the "now". Though there was a passing refererence to Superman's politics made by Red in Superboy #1.

 

So what's Action Comics' line going to be? Strictly Superman stories and the growth of him and all his primary arcs, or is that the "Superman" comic that's going to cover all of that?

 

Both Palmer and Frankenstein work for SHADE, a super secret, hitech espionage organization that uses advanced science. Not so out of place, since both characters use/are the product of science.

 

IIRC, the first arc will be set in the past and then the book will shift to the present.

 

I had trouble following some of Luthor's machinations - he both plans to capture Supes with a net at the demolition site, but has also within hours set up or anticipated Glenmorgan's sabotage of the Metropolis subway system as a Plan B, or what? And was it deliberate sabotage, or just a way-too-convenient failure of Glenmorgan's substandard work? So, as I posted earlier, I was a bit confused.

Sure it is - I've read the comics where Superman behaved this way (in reprints, I'm not that old).

Well, because this is pretty much who Superman was in the 1930s. This may well be the most enjoyable version of the character's introduction I've ever read for that reason - bringing the character's real origins into the modern continuity is pretty clearly why Morrison is doing it, because he does know who Superman is, and it's just brilliant.

I hope the reception to this is positive enough for Morrison to choose not to update the character so quickly...he could take a little stroll through more of Supes' earlier, rougher days for a couple of years before getting to the present. I'm sure that's a forlorn hope, but it would be nice.

 

But it will be the "main" Superman comic with all of the tropes and expectations of Superman, right?

If so, what does the "Superman" line of comics offer that Action Comics doesn't? How do the two relate to one another?

Should I subscribe to the "Superman" comics too?

Argh. It's already all confusing!

 

Superman has had multiple books since the 1940s. All they really offer is Superman stories more than once a month. Sometimes they worked together in tight continuity like in the 90s, other times each book did their own thing. We'll see which approach they take when Superman #1 arrives. Though there will be some co-ordination. It won't be like reading two different characters.

 

^ How is it confusing? Sure, for the time being, Action is taking place in the "past". Eventually, it'll shift to the "present" and stories will be concurrent with Superman.

It is really no different than before when they had multiple Superman books running different storylines.

I just don't quite understand why they have both Action Comics as a Superman storyline and Superman as a Superman storyline. Wasn't this "reboot" meant to clean things up and have it make more sense? Why run at least two Superman titles that have nothing to do with one another?

But, whatever, as long as Action Comics is "the" Superman title and will do everything I would expect from a Superman title I'll be (mostly) happy.

Just talk to me when Batman #1 comes.
