The Officially Awesome Futurama Season 7 / Volume 6 Time!

I thought it was pretty fun. Of the three segment's I'd probably say the first was my favorite. And I do agree the anime segment was rather underwhelming, it was probably the one I was looking forward to most, and it ended up being my least favorite.

Maybe the problem with some fans' view of the anime segment is that your expectations are based in more modern anime whereas the segment was parodying older, cruder things like Speed Racer, Voltron, and Robotech -- stuff from back when it was called "Japanimation" rather than anime.

^If Futurama did a Farscape episode, that would be pretty bizarre. ;)

leela would have to aaron and amy would chiana<(is that right?). zoidberg would be dargo. it would be a weired casting after that. fry of course would be ben bowder.

"Reincarnation" was great. I absolutely loved the first segment, since I'm a big fan of antique storytelling. The Japanimation was pretty funny, too. The video game segment was the weakest, but still fun.

Coincidentally, this week I also saw the Brave And The Bold episode that adapted the 50s MAD parody and included a Japanimation pastiche. That was good, too.

I'd love to see more shows do homages like this.

Fry = Crichton
Leela = Aeryn
Amy = Chiana or Zhaan
Bender = Rygel
Hermes = D'Argo
Farnsworth = Scorpius or Stark
Zoidberg = Pilot
I'd rather see Zapp Branigan as D'Argo.

That was inspired by a real 1966 Batman manga storyline, republished a few years back in the book Bat-manga!: The Secret History of Batman in Japan. So it was mainly a manga pastiche, although it did include some gags based on English dubbing of anime.
Nice. That's two adaptations of historical works. Good for them. :bolian:

Good Emmy news, everyone!

Tonight’s ceremony was also highlighted by the big comeback of Futurama. Nine years and one cancellation after it won its first Emmy for best animated program, Futurama did it again for its first season on Comedy Central, the cable network that resurrected Matt Groening’s comedy 7 years after Fox axed it. What’s more, Futurama also won the other major award for an animated series, best voice-over performance (Maurice Lamarche).

To be specific, the winning episode for the show was "The Late Philip J. Fry" and the winning episode for LaMarche was "Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences" for his roles as Lrrr and Orson Welles.

To be unspecific, somebody won something.

well we have a big star trek anniversry coming up. so I would to see another star trek parody for next season.
