Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

^ Who cares. It's fun to speculate and this came from one of the writers themselves. We got Dr. Zola after all, even a homage in the film to his comic book counterpart when he's first introduced in the movie. They could easily reimagine Modok.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

Probably won't ever happen - different studio distributing partners and all. :p

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

^ Isn't Paramount the distributor of the Marvel Studios cinematic universe? Which is what I'm guessing wamdue is referring to.

I hadnt considerd the problems of them coming from differnt studios.

That said Marvel has got it arranged so the characters can appear in Avengers, so in theory they could do the same for a boxset, even if its a one off.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

^ Indeed and as I stated Paramount has distributed all of them so it's very likely we will get a box set. Probably in time for Christmas 2012.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

Universal distributed The Incredible Hulk, while Paramount distributed Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger. As of The Avengers, Disney has taken over distribution of Marvel Studios' films.

I'm thinking something will be worked out.
Disney would just need to strike a balance with Universal and Paramount for some % of a boxset. Surely reasonable heads would like to get a cut of what is sure to be additional sells that otherwise you wouldn't make on your own.

Universal will sell how many TIH individually vs getting some minor percentage of many units in a box set???

Seems like an easy enough situation if I'm sitting at Universal, even Paramount which has or will have already saturated the market with Iron Man/IM2 units.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

I don't really understand why Disney wouldn't be able to make a boxset of all the films at some point. Universal and Paramount never actually owned any of the Marvel films they were distributing, they simply fronted money for marketing and distribution in exchange for a cut of the gross. However, Disney owns Marvel through and through.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

Yeah, because Hollywood contracts dividing up such rights are simple, straightforward and easy to guess based on little information.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

That, and a box set would imply closure, whereas (if the history of comics is anything to go by) Marvel Studios will happily continue to produce MCU films as long as they yield profits. They'd be better off selling shelves painted the Marvel red than any kind of finite container.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

With the "official" close of Hollywoods summer schedule Captain America: The First Avenger in it's 7th week of release placed 14th in the rankings with $1.8m to raise it's domestic total to $171.5m. It's worldwide total is standing at $336m.

The film is now $10m behind Thor, which has stopped tracking at $181m.

Cap takes more globally than in North America. STOP. American fans shamed by international love for ole winghead. STOP. Fears overseas take would be crap completely unfounded. STOP. Who's laughing now? STOP.
I like the way you wrote that. :techman:

Essentially until the movie opened in China last weekend though the tallys were neck-and-neck. The $5m Chinese opening seems to be the difference in the two figures.
Still I'm pleased and not surprised. I always felt the "anti-American" prophets were being either a)overly gloomy or b)haters for the sake of it.

Captain America also has a slim chance to pull even or go ahead of Thor domestically which stopped at $181m. Captain America is at $173m now.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,
