I stand by the names I listed, although Jericho, Undertaker and Austin can be taken out. It doesn't matter what kind of relationship Trips has with people, it's the fact he's willing to make them look good in the ring that matters. He made a mid 50's Ric Flair look like a genuine threat in their brief 2005 feud. Triple H's willingness to sell and lose clean was what got Randy Orton and Batista over in the beginning. John Cena factors into this list as well because at Wrestlemania 22 in 2006, Triple H put John Cena over in the main event by tapping out to the STF.

The part with Shawn Michaels is a tough one, but you have to accept that when Michaels returned it was Triple H who helped him back into the main event by putting him over at the risk of stopping his own momentum. They are best friends yes, but it wasn't their relationship that was the main factor it was about the top guy at the time (Triple H) putting over a talent clean so an unfamiliar audience would see him as a main eventer.

It's always been this way, when the bookers decide someone needs to be at the top they have them go over the big names clean. It isn't always enough to just have that happen, the person taking the loss has to make the person taking the win look world class. Selling has to be perfect and there is no room for ego. When Hulk Hogan agreed to put Ultimate Warrior over at Wrestlemania 7 he did so like a pro. But then Hogan ruined it with his post match actions (getting teary eyed and personally handing over the belt, thus stealing the spotlight from Warrior). This ensured that Hogan stayed the top guy and Warrior's momentum steadily decreased as a result.
 
But Trips, by 2003 was larely bulletproof, he could have taken a clean loss from any of the guys you listed and it wouldn't have touched his momentum. Yet, he rarely did lose to any of them, and in some cases never once lost to them.

By comparison, Chris Jericho is a believeable World Heavyweight Champion, yet he was taken to the limit by rookie DBD, and lost to guys like Kofi Kingston, JTG, and Heath Slater around that time. Guys who in all liklihood will never so much as breathe the same air as the World/WWE Title. Did it harm his momentum?

I agree with admiral young that's WM 6. all so I like the fact that shaemus is now a face, fantastic. so who do you think will win the steel cage match tonight Randy Orton or Christian and do you think either of them can handle Mark Henry?
 
Here is something I just made. My intention was to have Punk and the SES in the picture. I couldn't find any appropriate photos of Luke Gallows or Serena though, so you'll have to make do with Punk!

One thing that really bothers me about the Christian vs Randy Orton matches is that they always end the same way. Christian inevitably goes for an aerial move and Orton catches him with the RKO for the win. Surely even within the fantasy world of professional wrestling, a wrestler must be able to learn from mistakes in matches?

I mean the catching RKO looks good, but it should also not be out of the realms of possibility for Christian to just not go for his diving move when Orton ALWAYS manages to connect with the RKO when he does it?!
 
Yeah that always bothers me when there is no innovation, only repetition in matches. I guess that is what we get though for having these two have match after match though.

It took me a second to realize who was in Zod's face :)
 
I'm thinking that Christian needs to surprise Orton by going for a missile dropkick. How would Orton respond to that? Would he RKO Christian's legs? The best he could get out of that is a flapjack, although it would probably go in Christian's favour as Orton would end up on the ground with Christian's knees dropping onto his arms. In which case, Christian has a weakened body part to target in classic heel fashion.

(Great, I'm now analysing scripted matches with logic...)
 
I would propose that there is a kind of logic to scripted matches...just not along the lines of what fans usually think of. I would expect that there are all kinds of factors that go into the booking, designing, and execution of a match as well as a story line or program that we're not privy too. I respect the process, but that doesn't mean that I always have to like it.
 
No. There won't be a Smackdown on Friday. WWE is testing out Tuesday nights now due thinking about moving the show so they can do a live taping.

In fairness, during the match last night, Christian teased going for an aerial move and Randy responded by going for the RKO. While Randy was distracted, Christian instead attempted to climb the cage...

So, he is learning... his curve just isn't as sharp as yours or mine.

Poster for Bound for Glory seems to tease Hogan Vs Sting (this is inevitable) and Joker Sting just looks utterly ridiculous.

I seriously can not believe that Borden actually thinks this is a better use of his talent than what Vince would have done with him. Undertaker Vs Sting would have been amazing and made Wrestlemania 27 easily the most watched WWE PPV in years, the buy rates would have rocketed. Then you could have had the potential of booking Sting with someone like CM Punk (imagine that program?). Instead we get Joker Sting and bad Heath Ledger impersonations. I think one of the reasons Borden didn't sign with WWE personally is because he knew he'd have to work his arse off for Vince and probably realized that he could phone it in (not that he actually does this) at Impact Wrestling. Sigh.

I realize as well that I keep repeating myself regarding my views on Sting but I really find this latest gimmick of his ridiculous. I would love to read an autobiography of his though. He's had an interesting career.
