Death Valley zombie/vampire comedy on MTV

Okay the time has come. Anyone bothering to watch? Sounds like it's being successful at what it's trying to be, anyway.

With a pedigree one would find only on MTV (the idea came from Spider One, founder of the band Powerman 5000, and was written by Julie Kellman Reading and Austin Reading, who have produced, among other things, the various "Scream Awards" on Spike), "Death Valley" looks and sounds like it was made by a bunch of smart, nerdy high school sophomores who somehow persuaded a few actual actors to participate. Certainly, the blood and gore — magenta, sticky, probably medicinally sweet — appear to have been purchased directly off the back page of a Tales from the Crypt comic book.

But that's part of the fun. The setting of "Death Valley" is land of the "Super 8" fantasy, home to Steven Spielberg and the porn industry, where a video camera is a birthright. Here, a zombie/vampire/werewolf takeover is just another local situation, along with fire season, earthquakes, meth labs and prostitution.

can't wait till later on tonight. :wtf::eek::cardie::cardie::eek::wtf:

Uh oh. There's other stuff on tonight. I hope they put it up on On Demand, or re-run it.

Yep, there are reruns. I had to nuke two or three repeats off my DVR (so much for the ONLY TAPE NEW EPISODES feature). But it was easy, just a single shot to the brain took care of them. I hope there aren't ten more the next time I look.

It's up on On Demand, so I got to see it. It was okay. It was supposed to be like Cops, but there were parts where there obviously couldn't have been a camera crew present. It had a couple of funny parts, like the rookie beating up the zombie in the background and the werewolf at the end, but most of it was just moderately amusing bits interspersed with monster-on-cop violence. Kind of fun, but will probably get old quickly if it stays like this.

We'll be able to guess that when the ratings come in. Probably will take a few days, cable doesn't come in overnight like broadcast.

Saw the premiere ep, ugh. With a premise where the jokes practically write themselves, I'd expect this show to be a whole lot funnier. Nuked this one off the DVR already.

2011-12 TV Season Score: 0/1

Next up, Ringer!

I love this new show fantastic anyone know how many episode's this will be?
IMDB currently has 12 episodes listed. Though the most episodes any of the cast are lsited in, is 10. So, a minimum of 10 episodes seems to be the plan.

thanks for that. I just wished this show was an hour long.

would any one here eat doanughts that the former employees are now zombies?

If you're going to quibble about that, how about that camera man who was calm enough to get a variety of great camera angles while his sound guy was freaking out during the zombie attack (yet the sound quality didn't seem to be impacted in the least?) and continued to keep a cool and professional demeanor even after the cops had decided to murder his co-worker?

He even got down on the floor to get a shot from the sound guy's angle while he awaited a grisly death. I know Hollywood is heartless, but wow.

that's just a dillagent worker. I love the blonde rookie she took out the zombie at her desk fantastic. I may have to there vamp hookers.

these cops are better than the ones that in candin county <(my name is earl).

I'm not a fan of Reno 911, and figured tossing Zombies in wouldn't help it much.

Also, not a big fan of most Zomedies, Sean of the Dead didn't really do anything for me (But, I do enjoy Fido and Zombieland)

Texas Battle and Tania Raymonde were fun, so, I'll watch another episode or two to see if the humor impresses me any more than it does now.

The effects aren't half bad.

He did even better during the hostage exchange. Of course, he seemed to be invisible to the vampires anyway. :rommie:

Vampires love publicity. They never eat the camera guys.

Okay while I'm at it, what's up with the "vampire pimp"? Since when do vampires need pimps for protection? Aren't they pretty dangerous to begin with? And how exactly does the pimp get paid? Does he get to snack on the john, too? Doesn't that sorta ruin it for the guy? And that would leave less blood for the vampire hooker, so why would she bother with a pimp at all, considering she could easily kill any normal human who looks at her funny?
