(Cue Tom Hedden song, you know, the one with the bells)

Preaeason starts tonight, offseason is officially over. 10 years of labor peace in front of us. Wacky offseason, new rules and policies, new faces in new places, and best off all, men in uniforms and pads hitting other men in uniforms and pads.

To quote the legendary Fukui Kenji of Iron Chef fame: "Bang a gong, we are on!"

Let me be the first to say Go Patriots! With plenty of Rexy foot videos and Manning face for all.

I don't expect much from the 49ers this year. They still have a joke of a QB in Alex Smith, they didn't do much of anything in free agency, and I see this team winning no more than 5 games. Oh well, it's the NFL, it's good that it's back, and maybe Harbagh might surprise.

Yay! The season's here. Denver's first preseason game was interesting. Lots to be excited about and lots to make me glad that today didn't actually count. Orton's only drive was a pretty good one that (shockingly) stalled in the redzone. Our top two running backs did very well for their time in. Tebow did look rough, but he again showed some stuff to be hopeful for. He would sometimes resort to running way too quickly, but when he stayed in the pocket, that kid stood tall. Our 2nd team offensive line was getting raped their first possession, but they held up better from that point on.... not sure if they just settled down or if Dallas' first team D was still in that drive and they were that much better. Quinn looked good. He took a couple three-and-outs to settle down, but he was golden once he did.

I really hope that Jeremiah Johnson makes the team.... he was making some great running plays out there. Oh, how I've missed my defensive running Broncos of old.

Not much of a football fan, but here are my loyalties:

For the sake of my neighbor, my cousin, and my uncle, Go Steelers!

For "rooting for a local" (Aaron Rodgers) Go Packers!

Otherwise, Go <insert team with coolest uniforms and/or name here>!

I know this is just preseason and I shouldn't get too excited, but...damn. That was a flat-out shellacking by the Patriots.

None of the major stars played, but that's okay. I was pleased with the performances from rookies Ryan Mallett and Stevan Ridley, particularly Ridley.

First time ever I've been excited to see preseason games.

Well I dunno about you guys but I'm not holding my breath for my 49ers to do much of anything this year with Alex Smith still under centre, coupled with diva queen extraordinaire Crabtree injured once again. That means the load will be on Gore who probably can't handle it and just get injured again.

Well, I guess it's more inadvertently pointing out the joke. The sad thing is I thought I was being clever and it turns out we're saying the same thing.

Still, he has a habit of verbal flubs, which is why I thought you meant otherwise.

Miami's quest for Andrew Luck began without a hitch last night. :(

So did the Niners. I know it's preseason, but that was really really bad. The Offensive Line looked like they didn't practice at all, and Alex Smith still sucks. I said they were going to win no more than 5 games this year, but if they look the way they looked last night, they'll be lucky if they even get to 5. This is shaping up to be a terrible year for Football in the Bay Area

Less than two months away from Hockey Season.

On the second play of their first possession, the Bears' offensive line got flagged for holding and still managed to let Cutler get clobbered. Clearly Lovie and Martz's plan of moving guys around, instead of actually getting talent, is working so well.

And they've had three sacks in their last four snaps. Lovie was at least smart enough to get Cutler the hell out of there so the Bills can use Caleb Hanie as their punching bag for the rest of the night.

I wonder what Olin Kreutz is thinking right now? (Sorry Timby...)

I know it's just preseason, but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far from my Titans, especially Jake Locker.

If the Lions can put up 34 points every game and win, I'm really looking forward to this season.

I wouldn't consider the game vs. Cincinnati a win of any sort. The defense is in shambles with multiple new starters and the offense is led by a rookie QB behind a below-average, at best, offensive line.

Though I do think Detroit makes some decent strides towards respectability if Stafford can stay healthy. Possibly finishing second in the NFC North and grabbing the final playoff spot.
