Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Iron Man 2 wasn't all that memorable.

i beg to differ. ScarJo in a tight catsuit and changing in the back of the limo was VERY memorable.

as well as the suitcase armour, War Machine, the Japanese garden battle, Vanko's burd and Hammer's overly elaborate description of the 'Ex-wife' which ultimately fails.

Iron Man 2 was a lot of fun. Its biggest sin was not being better than the first movie; but how often are sequels really better than their predecessors?

I remember more of Iron Man 2 than Iron Man 1.

And I enjoyed both.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who enjoys IM2. I just watched it a couple months ago on Netflix streaming, and I really enjoyed it, just like I did when I saw in the theater.

Spider-man 2, The Dark Knight, Empire Strikes Back, The Wrath of Khan, Godfather II, Toy Story II, X-Men 2.

Usually it's the third movie where the wheels come off.
Sure those are good sequels but there are plenty where part II actually is of considerable lesser quality or "wheels coming off" and IM2 doesn't fit that bill. I'd call out Gremlins 2, Ghostbusters 2, Die Hard 2, Tomb Raider 2 or X-Files 2 for starters. The dissenters of that movie pile on too harshly. I mean crap if it were that bad WOM in our social media age would've killed it not to unlike what happened with Green Lantern. Iron Man 2 just isn't a bad film despite some people thinking it had to be a film like you listed above.
IM2 was entertaining and has ONE really bad scene, drunk Tony. Even that in context is understood, he thought he was going to die. His blood toxicity level was like 89%.

To each their own. I went into IM2, really looking forward to it and was really disappointed. Usually with superhero sequels, the second movie is where they really come into their own - as per the ones I listed before - now that all the origin business is out of the way. To me, IM2 had the messy, cluttered feeling of X3 and Spider-man 3 - but I actually enjoyed them more than it.

These days the "origin business" can potentially give a film a huge boost. See: Iron Man 1, Batman Begins.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

^ Yeah, but as against that, a movie has to devote maybe 3/4 an hour to showing how the hero gets to where he/ she is. Don't get me wrong, I love Begins, Spider-man, Iron Man etc. But very often the second movie, which can hit the ground running, is the better for not having to set down the origin.

A bit of news on the production: The Missus and I went downtown last evening after work to get a look at things. One full block is closed, with a variety of wrecked vehicles and fake chunks of broken buildings lining the street itself. The art department has been busy, re-dressing storefronts to bear NYC names, phone numbers, ect.

All in all, very cool, though deserted, of course - I'm still trying to verify which day they actually start shooting on 9th.

^Cool. Sounds like maybe we can expect some big crazy battles then.

Oh that was probably just Hulk figuring out where his keys went and then realizing he doesn't have a car.

Based on what I read, I think that JD is right about an epic battle taking place.

I'm guessing that it'll be even more dressed up by then. Looking forward to see some of your shots.

Sweet...here I didn't think the Helicarrier would work in live action, but I was picturing the classic comics version....

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

It is just concept art and not exactly how it will appear in the film...but it looks pretty sweet. That one in particular looks like an air battleship.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

There were good live action versions of helicarriers on Doctor Who and in the Sky Captain movie. So, I'm looking forward to what they came up with for the Avengers movie.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

I don't know how close that is to what appears in the comics, but I like it.
