Doctor Young is not a particularly practical soul, gods bless her, as is noted at one point by Nick Cook's character.

Vektor's work continues to be awesome as do the production photos.

I think the show is looking fairly awesome even at this early stage. We screened the first eight minutes to cast and crew during the location shoot weekend, and I think it holds together pretty well. I can't wait to get my hands on the location footage so I can start adding it into the edit.
In the meantime, I'm in the midst of shooting and editing some new music videos for The Kinsey Sicks. I'm rough assembling the footage from the first shoot right now, which is a wholly different kind of editing than cutting Polaris!
For instance, continuity doesn't matter at all.

A fun fact: the two equipment cases in this shot were just plain solid colored cases that were "taped" to add detail. It's amazing what a few inches of narrow art tape can do to make something visually interesting. The little rectangle was deliberately taped with white on two sides and black on the others to make it look like a raised detail. It actually works surprisingly well.
Reminds me of Mike Okuda, who turned that into an art form. He probably ordered masking tape by the truckload during his work on various Trek productions.

I actually learned that trick from Mike when he gave me a tour of the Star Trek Art Dept. back in 1990!
