Taylor Swift covers Eminem's "Lose Yourself" at concert

Heh, I'm actually not a huge Gaga fan. I do enjoy several of her songs, but I find her persona so artificial and gimmicky that I don't have much interest in the artist herself.

Using nonsense words like that is hardly new, musically.
Ah, sweet. The "other people are doing it too" argument.

No, it's establishing the fact that nonsense words have been used all throughout music history, even among the well considered groups, like, say, the Beatles.

I believe your post is making the error that "modern pop" automatically equals "mediocre", which is a general stereotype, and likely to be wrong for that reason. Also, the "other people are doing it too" statement usually only refers to negative instances and behaviors. Nonsensical words do not qualify as such, and so your use of that particular trope is out of place.

"Goo-goo-ga-joob".

Dammit Kanye! Leave Taylor alone.

lol, thank you I needed that lol

If it wasn't ipso facto evidence of sucking, why is it the only thing you cited?
Cuz it makes me cringe. :alienblush:

Bingo. Gaga is nothing more than an adult Hannah Montana, and the only real difference between them really is that Miley Cyrus isn't butt-ugly.

Except that Stefani Germanotta (Lady Gaga) was accepted to Juilliard at 17 (and turned it down to attend NYU's CAP21 program with the Tisch School of the Arts), writes almost all of her own songs, is an accomplished pianist, and is heavily involved in LGBT philanthropy. You also refer to her as "butt ugly", which is a personal preference, an opinion that holds zero merit on your part. It seems, from your posts, that you know nothing about her, and have chosen instead to indict her on second hand opinion posing as information.

Seriously? I'd call that a waste, if I didn't already know dozens of people who graduated from prestigious institutions, just to go mainstream, because that's where the money is. There's this guy, a pianist (forgot his name), who graduated at a Vienna Conservatory, just to seek a career in techno music... Go figure.

That's supposed to impress me?

I never said it wasn't. But yes, I find her ugly as fuck, and see no reason for you to resent me for that.

I know all about the product she sells, and that's quite enough. I rarely read artists bios, and when I do, it's mostly for the artists I care about.

Lady Gaga could be as deep as a fucking Laurentian Abyss, for all I care. But ultimately, it's the product you sell that counts.

That being said, I actually kinda like Katy Perry, but don't care enough to do a research on where she went to school and to whom she gives money to. I do know that she's married to that annoying guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but that's her business, not mine (she could be married to Justin Beiber, for all I care).

No resentment here. Just a repudiation of the uninformed statement that she and "Hannah Montana" were almost exactly alike.

You may have taken that just a tad too far. I was only referring to "the product". They're both playing similar roles, acting as fake as they can with all the wardrobe, cheap on-stage gimmicks and whatnot. They're both hard working professionals, and people often don't give enough credit to Miley for all that she's done (not many people can handle all that pressure and hard work, and it's VERY hard work, make no mistake).

AFAIK, Miley Cyrus also wrote some of her own songs.
