This is a picture that's being used in a current caption contest. Obviously from Space Seed, the five people you can see seated at the table each have a coffee cup with saucer and a small goblet with a blue/purple liquid in front of them. But in the foreground, there are a additional four pairing of cup and goblet.

So, what are the possibilities here? Are there four others at the table, perhaps simply leading back in their chairs? Are McCoy, Scotty, Sulu and Chekov also present at the occasion? This would explain Khan knowledge of Chekov.

Did the pair of yeomen accidentally over set the table? It could happen. What the hell going on here.

Your opinions please.

:)

Since his character had yet to make his debut at this point, Walter Koening's take has always been that Chekov had a sour stomach and had sequestered himself in the head for the duration of the events in this episode. Khan also had a dire need and was infuriated that Chekov hogged the bathroom for such a seemingly interminable period of time. When he finally yielded the loo to Khan, Chekov was told, "I won't forget your face!!!".

Khan had, during his convalescence, access to the ship's full library (which included full information on the ship's structure and most likely of the crew). Now Khan has a superior intellect so it would naturally follow that he probably has a great memory. It seems quite possible that he browsed the record tapes (which include photographs) of the crew and came upon Chekov's. Hence, he may have known what his face looked like even if he never actually met him during Space Seed.:techman:

He was also a Monkees fan growing up.

I love how the recreated this scene (and switched Kirk's and Spock's parts of agressor and mediator) in TUC.

My opinion is that the table seems way too tall to be useful as a dinner table.
How so? Looks like a normal-height dining table to me. It seems to come up a bit higher on Uhura because she’s slouching down in her chair.

Given the way Uhura is putting away the liquor, you'd be slide out of your chair too.
