What are you watching?

I'm just into season 7 of Buffy and I'm starting wonder whether the Scooby Gang are even supposed to be the good guys in this story; almost every single character on that show by now has a history of hurting and killing innocent people and the nonchalance they treat the ubiquitous death around them with is really a bit disturbing. I think they are all fucking psychos.

Yup, it does go that way until the finale when its all supposed to be "good" again. Until Season 8 (the graphic novel continuation) when they go even more psycho and deranged/evil.

Really they stopped being the "Good Guys" in season 5, and that was a stretch.

^^ Seven on TV. They call the comic books Season Eight.

No, it's just Darker & Grittier. And mental illness is the new mental health. :D

Anyway, I'll be taping Futurama tonight.

^How many seasons of Buffy were there?

1-5 On their original network. 6 and 7 on the WB network that changed the shows whole "feel". Then Joss was able to secure a contract with Dark Horse comics to publish Season 8 in graphic novel/comic form. Season 9 follows soon and Season 10 has been confirmed.

Season 8 = 40 comics.
Season 9 and 10 = 20 comics each.

Our Man in Havana.
Wonderful Alec Guiness film, that and 'Man in the White Suit' are two of my favorites.

I was clicking a bit about on Tales of Future Past, when I happened onto a page about Man in the White Suit -while I'm waiting for that to come to me I thought I'd better watch some of his films that I already have :bolian:
Do you have 'Lavender Hill Mob' or 'Kind Hearts and Coronets'? If you'd like something other than comedy 'Cromwell' is a great film. He plays Charles I opposite Richard Harris. He is splendid in the part.

Read good things about Cromwell -waiting for that too :rommie:

but not the others you mention -I'll have to look those up!

Boston TV started to run quite a few of Alec Guiness's old films after Star Wars first came out. That was how I got into a lot of his films. I can well appreciate his frustration at how Obi Wan Kenobi overshadowed his career. Another favorite of mine is 'The Captain's Paradise' where he plays a bigamist sea captain. It is pretty funny as is 'The Ladykillers'

The Ladykillers is indeed a brilliant comedy! -been watching that many times over the years :rommie:

But if it weren't for Obi-Wan he'd never have become popular with yet another generation!

I'm sure he thought of it more as a mixed blessing than anything bad. Just something rather light and inconsequential compared to all the other work he'd done.

Jesus, that's a lot of Buffy.

After all that talk about Alec Guinness' film roles I watched him in Star Wars earlier today :rommie:

No bloody episode or new hope or anything fancy like that, just this one, of course.

And while on the subject of originals: I'm now watching Saga of a Star World, the Battlestar Galactica pilot.
