The Michael O’Hare thing, like the new B5 project thing, is an example of something jms just does. At least that’s what it looks like – it’s not like there isn’t enough examples of it happening over the years.
He could have easily said something like – Thanks folks just to let you know I got hold of Michael O’Hare so you can call off the search. ; )
Instead he wrote.
Michael's situation has been determined, and he's still among the living, which is the good news, but the things that concerned me enough to begin the search have been borne out. I realize that that's a "what the hell?" kind of statement, but that's all I can say about it for the time being.
There’s that “all I can say about it for the time being”, again. He’s a wordsmith with a degree in psychology, so why does he keep doing that I wonder. Especially with something like this which is almost certainly a deeply personal issue concerning, presumably, a friend.
Oh has anyone downloaded the new jms app. ; )

The two 5 year stories that originally made up B5 may not have been intended to be a franchise, but those books about the show are starting to look a bit like one, what is that now 25, 30. ; )
As for writing sci-fi with a large budget. Yep, one would help, but LoTR didn’t suffer from a low budget, it suffered from a clichéd, unimaginative and at times rather poorly written story.
Sorry, it may not sound like it, but I am a fan of B5, I enjoyed jms’s work on it but when something is badly written, it’s badly written. Pointing at the poor scheduling of it’s tv release, or another pilot he wrote nearly 10 years earlier, doesn’t change that.
Up thread it was suggested, at least as B5 goes, jms doesn’t have anything new to say. With this new B5 project being a re-boot, and the quality of past examples the evidence does seem to indicate that. Which is cool! So maybe it’s time to let B5 (and maybe a few B5 fans) go. I’m sure it won’t effect the sales of the next B5 book too much. ; )
