Star Trek / Space Themed Baby Room

Quick question - anyone have one of the AMT 1/1000 scale Excelsior models they would be willing to trade for a 1/1000 scale Enterprise B model from AMT?

Well, the first rocketship is completed... the USS Explorer from the Space Base and Satellite Explorer kit. I decided that, since the kit was inspired by the 1950's rocket designs of Von Braun, I would give it a sorta 50's look... went with silver paint and black accents. I keep hem-hawing about painting the underside of the spaceplane black (thermal shield) but other than that and a few decals I plan to cannibalize off the above-posted UN shuttle project, I think this sucker is complete.

Here's the final version of the first pic:

(Full size is of course MUCH bigger!)

Now I need to get moving on the second one!

Here's a WIP of the second picture:

The shuttle name, per Father Rob's request, is his baby's name, and in green with a clover to signify his Irish heritage.

That is so cute! I LOVE decorating baby and kids' rooms! Unfortunately, none of my three seem to be as attached to sci-fi as myself...we have a Princess room, a Spiderman room, and a Snoopy room. :)

My daughter recently found a few of my space books. In specific, I have a book called "Shuttle: The First Spaceship" by Robert Powers. It was published in 1979, before Columbia's first launch. It includes the hype about 500 flights (1 per week) from 1981 to 1992. It has lots of color pictures and black and white photographs. She has given up on "Sleepy Time", "Courdoroy's Day", "Colors", "Puppies, Pussycats, and other Friends"... all she wants to read at bedtime is "daddy's space book". I will find it quite ironic if she is the sci fi junkie and my son winds up with the interest in quilting! LOL!

I've put the two final pictures up on my deviantArt site. Click the pics below for bigger versions there!

I have been meaning to post something in this topic since it first opened. However I wanted to post some pictures and I just got around to taking them.

Long story short, here are a few pictures of my sons Aaron's unfinished space themed room. When our first son was born, my wife and I agreed that she could choose the theme of our first sons room and I would get our second sons room. She chose a jungle theme for our first son Ian. Thus I got to choose the space theme for Aaron. The reason it is unfinished is, after starting to decorate we needed to put our house up for sale and it seamed pointless to complete it if were were going to be selling.

Besides what you see here, there was suppose to be additional details. We were going to have huge stick on planets on the ceiling besides the glow in dark stars. There was also going to be large stick on clouds and a sun, plus the light up moon lamp. Plus a few other things, like NASA models and general space stuff.

That blue color on your ceiling is, I think, pretty close to what we are using on the walls. I am curious, did you make your own curtains, etc., or did you find them somewhere?

The curtains actually came from Target. The hanging one is actually a comforter given to us as a gift, so not sure where that came from.
