rewatching Voyager on Netflix (it's been years).

I've been trying to watch through Voyager now that it's on Netflix as well, to finish off a franchise (re-)watch that I began months ago. I'm in the first third of season two right now and stopped watching three episodes in a row out of sheer boredom. I've watched about four more episodes fully through after those three, the latest being yesterday, and I'm considering dropping the VGR part of the overall plan.

Season two had some good episodes, but it wasn't my favorite. Actually it was probably my least favorite of all of them. I think it was like they didn't really know what direction to head in at that point. When I watch them again not long after having seen them previously, I tend to skip over a lot of season two. I think season three picks up and then by four (for me at least) it really kicks butt. When it was on the air, I think I stopped watching around season four because of time limitations as well as having gradually lost interest. When I finally rented around 5 years ago, I fell in love with it.

I would say that the first three seasons are reminiscent of TNG with a lot of character stories and some interesting ship encounters, but after that it clearly separates itself from all the other Treks and takes on it's own feel.

DS9 is coming in October. We just need that and Star Trek: TAS and the dynasty will be complete :)
Hey, that's some good news. Thanks. I think maybe Netflix is trying to get Trekkers to sign up to make up for all the anger over their price hike. :)

To each his own. People have unique tastes and you can't hold that against them.
I'm not watching every episode in order but so far I've limited my viewing to seasons 1 and 2 and I've really enjoyed the characterization and stories.

Netflix really gouged their customer with the watch instantly aspect. Their cost is going up 60% as of Sept I think. A lot of people cancelled on general principal. I was going to cancel then before they announced it because I use Redbox for movies (can't beat $1 rentals that can be reserved online without very long waits that Netflix gives me). I have to admit I was thrilled to see that Voy was part of the watch instantly. I just watched the whole series during the last month and now I'm rewatching some of my favorite episodes. But if you're not really getting into it, then for the price it really isn't worth it as they really don't have that much on view instantly and lately I've noticed that the streaming stalls sometimes with that reloading red bar across my screen. The system was also down on Sunday.

I'm the other way around: I originally paid $7.99 for streaming only, not bothering with the extra $2 for rentals. Even though Netflix evened out their prices to $7.99 each, it still doesn't bother me b/c I still don't intend on getting the rentals.

I'm probably going to go that route too. I like the instant download and I figure it's just a matter of time before everything is downloadable. If not, well, there's always Red box, the local library, etc.
On the topic of Star Trek viewing, I think instant download is pretty cool. Having access to every single episode instead of waiting for a disc to come in the mail is pretty cool. ...but Netflix better not hike their prices again.

I'm with you on the streaming. I might end up keeping it for next month - streaming only because now I'm watching ENT again. It's too soon to watch VOY again. Truth is that for us trek fans, when you want to watch the shows if you don't have the DVD sets, which are quite expensive, it's a great deal for $8 a month, especially in the summer when there's little else to watch. I was so happy when I saw they had gotten them streaming.
