Everything I've seen from this reboot in the last few weeks has me super excited. I was never a big fan of the Sam Raimi movies, but I thought they were all fun (though the 3rd was painful).

When Marc Webb signed on... The odd choice of director sold me on the idea of a reboot. I loved (500) Days of Summer. Subsequently, everything is looking good from the production so far.

The trailer just raises my hopes even more. At this point, I'm thinking I may have crossed into a point where the actual movie cannot live up to my expectations though.

I think it looks pretty cool! I really like the cast and the first-person sequence. Looks like they changed the tone quite a bit compared to the Raimi films.
Also, I loved Webb's "(500) Days of Summer", so I'm definitely looking forward to this!

Surprised that they're using something like the comics' ideas about Peter's parents. That was one of the more out-there ideas that doesn't normally get brought into the other media adaptations.

    Looks interesting.

I look forward to the reports of audience members barfing en masse in their seats.

This is supposed to be a movie, not a frelling videogame. Same the cheesy first person for the PS3.

Yeah, but how is the makeup going to be realized? Just a guy with some scaly skin and a tail? I sure can't imagine a full-on Lizard dude running around that world.

Even if that sequence IS in the movie, I doubt it's representative of all the Spidey action in the movie. It's probably just a couple brief moments at the most.

Besides, I think it's kinda cool seeing what such a thing would look like through Peter's eyes.

I can't stop watching this trailer. I think the radical shift in tone separates Raimi's movies and this one apart pretty drastically. Raimi's movies were always light-hearted and bright, and this looks considerably darker and more mature. Even when Spider-Man 3 went into "darker" territory it still had that slapstick, wise-cracking feel of a Sam Raimi movie.

It also seems that this movie is going to tread slightly different water than Raimi's first movie. We get to see Peter's parents here and based on the trailer, something to do with secrets. I think Marc Webb and his writers have concocted something different enough to warrant this reboot. At least I hope so.

Also, on top of that, it just feels like a David Fincher movie. The look, the tone, the feel. Even that POV swinging sequence felt like it came from the opening credit sequence of Panic Room. I think I'm excited for this film solely for the darker tone and feel. I liked Raimi's movies a lot, but a lot of the times they were way too corny and sappy for me. The Amazing Spider-Man looks darker, and apparently is grounded in a sense of realism, verses the hyperrealism of Raimi's movies, and I'm really excited for that.

I'm not. Dark and brooding Spidey sucks. Didn't work for me in the Clone Saga and it won't work for me here.
    If I wanted that, I'd read/watch Batman.

Spider-Man has always been at its best when it was dramatic but also lighthearted and funny.

Well we DO catch a pretty geeky, lighthearted moment between Peter and Gwen in the trailer. So I doubt the whole movie is going to be as dark and heavy as it appears here.

It is a Spider-Man movie, so I can't really see it being that realistic. I can see them pulling off the really realistic stuff with a character like Batman, but I don't think it's possible to get that realistic with Spiderman, I can see them pulling of something a little darker, but not anything that realistic.

THANK GOD it's another origin story, because we so badly needed one after ten years...

Seriously, what's the point in retreading old territory with an origin story? Why can't he just be Spider-Man from the beginning of the movie on? Gritty Spider-Man? When I think gritty comic book characters, I think Wolverine, Batman, and Daredevil. Spider-Man is not gritty. He's a guy who cracks jokes when he's fighting bad guys. He's had plenty of dark moments to be sure and the death of his uncle is one of them. But he's not the Dark Knight and this shouldn't be The Dark Knight.

Andrew Garfield is a great actor but he still looks a little too old to be playing high school Spider-Man.

Finally, I don't see what the fuss is about this trailer. It's Spider-Man Redux on the big screen.

Nothing about the trailer looks any more "mature" than any other superhero movie. Darker than Raimi? Maybe, but...eh.

Peter's actually in high school. I believe that is an advanced bio-chem/bio engineering lab he is visiting at Os Corp. You can clearly see his visitor's pass dangling from his little jacket.

There will be ALOT more scenes of Parker in high school than in the 2002 movie

Looks pretty much the same as the first film.

Funny thing is, I think Peter was only in high school for the first 29 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man.

I would disagree that it looks like the first film. I agree with some of the others who have said the tone and feel of the film looks like a David Fincher movie. I was dead set against the very notion of this film when it was first announced but thanks to the trailer and some of the stills that I've seen, along with the cast and director, I've come all the way around to embracing this movie. I can't wait.
