THE DARK TOWER will be made into a movie

Aren't *all* these people too old? I thought Roland was only supposed to be in his 20's. I'm not familiar with current, decent actors who are that young though.

No, Roland starts off in his 40's. He's describes as having a tired face with mostly white and gray hair with some black.

If he's in his 40's when the gunslinger starts then based on his descriptions, it's towards the late 40's......

Wonder who they'll get to play Eddie and Susannah? Or Jake?

Honestly, I think I'd prefer a bunch of unknown's in the roles. I don't want anything to interfere with my sense of immersion into the world and I think well-known actors would probably do that unless they were as incredibly gifted as Robert Downey Jr. seems to be.

I think Javier Bardem would do it, but I could see Christian Bale pitching a huge hissy fit when he has to work with some lesser TV peon.

Universal passed on At The Mountains of Madness and the Dark Tower.... for... Battleship. That says everything.

I'm kind of relieved. Howard's Dark Tower project never sounded right to me. I'd love it if some studio would pull a Harry Potter and commit to seven big screen DT adventures. Preferably with a grittier director than Howard and a better writer than Akiva.

I don't ever want to see a Stephen King book on the big screen again. "Dreamcatcher" was what did it for me. "Let's turn an awesome book into a shitty movie." Ugh. If "Dark Tower" is ever filmed, let it be an HBO mini-series...even an ongoing series...but pleeeeeze!!!...no more botched King movies!

At least reruns will make in-world sense.

I listened to the entire series, and don't think I could have hung in without the EXTRAORDINARY reader (who is no longer available), so I hope there is heavy naration with a similar voice.

Do folks think the unsuspecting public will accept the (non)ending? Many fans didn't.

I'm kinda glad. The big massive-budget-movie-trilogy-two-TV-series-on-NBC plan sounded wildly convoluted and potentially a disaster.

I'd rather see an approach like HBO is taking with Game of Thrones - a single series on cable.

I thought the ending was perfect, but I realize plenty of folks wanted something more concrete.
