Look, I'm not interested in dragging this out, scottpens. RJDiogenes asked me to drop it and play nice, and that's what I plan on doing.
And while I certainly could have phrased it better, my general question (which has thus far gone unanswered) was simply regarding when it became the standard practice to let people refer to religions in such a way, here in Misc. If this were TNZ, I'd get it. But Misc used to be much more sensitive to these kinds of comments. I know how I would feel if someone made the same kind of comment about the religion I was raised with, so I simply was curious why suddenly it was no big thang here in Misc. I won't be pursuing it, I'm not going to argue it out with you or anyone else. I don't care that "goddamned" is a common or "least offensive" missive out there.
I just don't think, personally, it's the kind of thing someone, anyone should be saying with regard to the particular faith of any other person. Scientologist or not.
But that's me, and something I seem to have to keep being reminded of and that I also need to keep reminding myself about is that not everyone sees things the way I do.
