James Luceno's Darth Plageuis Cover Revealed!

James Luceno's pronouncements about what George Lucas said versus what other people have claimed Lucas said have become more and more questionable in the wake of CW.

Meh. When it comes to Star Wars continuity, the movies undermine the books, the comics undermine the books, the video games undermine the books, and even the books undermine the books. Personally I've stopped caring one whit about continuity.

As much as I hate the prequels.... I'm definitely going to have to read this.

Give me James Luceno's take on Star Wars over George Lucas' anyday.

Just the comments after I posted it were discouraging at first. I wanted reactions to the actual art not debates about canon or political views on Luceno and Lucas.

Does it make me somewhat racist that I always assumed Plagueis was human? I do like ther cover though, much nicer than many of the recent photoshop jobs we've had.

What are you talking about?

Who are these "other people"? Lucas employees/collaborators, or random Internet revisionists making up "what Lucas said" for their own purposes?

Nothing that was told to Luceno by Lucas is in question or in danger of being supplanted by whatever revisionist theory is the most popular right now. Furthermore, nothing shown in TCW so far conflicts with Luceno in any way.

I'll comment on the cover image! That's a really cool cover image, Plagueis looks really creepy and imposing. I can't wait to learn the secret history of Palpatine :D

David Filoni, Lucas's go to guy for Clone Wars has said Lucas's take on General Grievious and his origin was radically different from what Luceno claimed Lucas told him as per the CW Season 1 DVD Commentaries. I think it's apparent that Luceno's credibility about what Lucas said about Grievious and probably Plagueis should be considered dubious at best and lying at worst.

How does that have anything to do with the Darth Plageuis book? Perhaps Lucas wanted to use the characters and concepts differently on the show and in the books?

This is true. It was revealed during a panel at Celebration IV that Luceno was TOLD by Lucas that he was a Muun.It was originally on Star Wars.com that it was first announced he was from that species. I remember having the discussion here about it.

i'm just having visions of this book getting wiped out by TCW's own take on plaguis in a season 5 or 6 Palpatine-centered episode. A Karen Travesty waiting to happen. Just my opinion.
