Perfectly reasonable to take a break when the stuff you enjoy has temporarily run out.

We'll see you back after Season 4 starts. The new ground combat system is amazing. I spent over an hour last night PvPing on the test server with dstahl, Farktoid, and a few folks from the IRC channel and StarbaseUGC. It was intense!
 
Yeah. I don't think I'm going to get off Tribble now until Season 4 launches and I start my new toon (first original Non-Argus character in the game.)
 
I do apologize if this has already been discussed here, but I've heard this game's becoming free some time soon? Is this true or am I being a bit too naive?
 
It has been roumored for awhile since Champions online shifted to a free to play model. The rumour got some new life when Cryptic was announced to be sold to a new company that specializes in FTP games.
Personally i doubt it, since it's going strong financially atm.
While this might change of course some time down the road, at the moment nothing really indicates this.
But keep in mind that a FTP model is in fact a "freemium model", meaning, you can access the game for free, but only on a basic level. There would likely be a lot of content and customization options you can only access by subscribing anyway or buying everything on the C-Store.
 
Tribble text weekend has just been announced as ON.

I spent a couple of hours on Tribble this morning. I ran into a bug with my Gorn character that prevented me from finishing the first mission. It's a known bug, so there's nothing I can do with that toon for now until it's fixed. I wonder how many hours you need to play on Tribble for the surprise reward. I've probably spent about 3 hours on it so far this weekend.

You can delete the toon and recopy from Holodeck.

It was a new toon that I created in Tribble, so I'll just delete this toon and start again. It's not like I got very far with him anyway.
 
It may be Sunday, July 3, 2011 - but it looks like the STO Dev team is in the office working on getting the Season 4 update ready to go to the Holodeck/Live server this next week (announced date was Thursday, July 7, 2011.)

Anyway they also put DStahl's answers to the "Ask Cryptic For July, 2011" (link) up on the main STO website today.

I like a lot of the stuff they have coming out especially that we get to go to the Gamma Qundrant in the next fetured ep. series

A: Absolutely. In fact, CBS has requested the very same thing. Expect to see some familiar faces in upcoming Series.

Interesting. To me this says something; CBS considers this game to be of relevance to the Star Trek brand.
 
I'm thinking that the new Enterprise-F might be the new canon Enterprise. At least it shows that Trek fans are not stupid given that we have now three major Trek Universes going at the same time, Abramsverse,Stoverse (Main Timeline as continued from Countdown to STO, and the Primeverse (Main Timeline as continued in the Novels).

There was actually a mega thread from early last year that was talking about the various Trek species that could be added to the game, and Dan said that CBS were really wanted to get more of the lesser known races in-game. It eventually became one of the reasons why they started doing the weekly featured episodes, however that's changed in focus a bit since then.
 
I finally reached 500 emblems !! Now to purchase a new ship. I currently have the Exploration Cruiser Retrofit (Galaxy Class with saucer seperation). Out of the following available options, is there any one that anyone would recommend?

* Tactical Escort Retrofit (Defiant with cloak)
* Multi Vector Advanced Escort (Prometheus with MVAM)
* Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit (Intrepid with ablative armor)

Right now I'm leaning towards getting the Prometheus.

I have the intrepid with hull armor. And unless they've changed things, I have to say... meh. Not terrible, but not great. Personally I'd say the MVAM would be the best of the three, you have to choose from, second to the cloak if you're used to flying tac (which I'm not), with the hull armor last.

Although I haven't used the MVAM personally, and the only cloak experience I have is limited to the Klingon side, in which I didn't get that far.

Arg how I miss STO! I need to get my subscription going again.
