We have had a great summer here in Scotland so far.....we had 2 sunny warm days last month and it was sunny and warm yesterday and today.....so summer 2011 will go down as one of the best yet for many years.

This right here is positively EPIC.

Seems they are struggling to think up a plethora of terms for "Incredibly Shitty", just to make you think there is actual variety. :guffaw:

I bet you can totally relate to this:

I think proof, if it were needed, that glove puppets need to do more weather reports.:guffaw:

Anyway time to hit the sack is its become quite low light outside.;)

104°F here today. It's been over 100°F every day for nearly two weeks and we've been at or near a record high almost every day as well. I'm a little frightened to think about what August might be like if this heat dome just sits here and continues to build.
Don't you get the odd tornado to break things up, though, or at least a thunderstorm/torrential downpour for the sake of variety?

It has been hot in Phoenix AZ. Up to 117 or 118 last week. And since the car broke down I have been doing a lot of walking in the hot sun. The monsoon will be here soon, so it will be a little cooler, 110 for a high, but the humidity goes way up.

Last Winter was brutal here in Minnesota, and Spring was cool too. So I'm loving the high-80s to low-90's we have been having the last few days. My bones are almost defrosted.

That is completely insane. I hope everyone is staying safe.

The Laws of a British Summer:

1) You see the sun more than once in a week, sometimes even as often as three times.
2) The day after any 24hr period where the sun is visible for more than 5 hours within that period, every person is obliged to cheerfully remark: "well, that's our summer gone then!".*

There used to be a 3rd Law : "there's tennis or cricket on TV, usually a replay because rain has stopped play", but unfortunately the twin changes of a Centre Court roof and Test Matches on subscription TV have destroyed the universal applicability of this law.

*in the rare event of two such 24hr periods being successive, the cheerful remark on the second of those days changes to: "Gosh, it's too hot. Still, mustn't grumble; we'll only complain when it's cold again"!

These are our traditions. And they must be maintained, for they are the very bedrock of the foundations of the soul of the heart of everything we stand for unless we don't.

And Ghandi said that.

My personal tradition is to exclaim "Fuck this for a game of soldiers...roll on Autumn!" when it's too hot.

Pfft, what would he know about hot weather............? :shifty:

Well I guess our monsoon season has started. We had a thunderstorm today in Phoenix.
A Thunderstorm means wind, dust, lightning and thunder, maybe a some rain if your lucky and a power outage if your not. Well I was both lucky- a little bit of rain, and unlucky-power outage for almost two hours. Luckily it was in the evening, but it was still humid and hot, with no air conditioning.
Actually today it was a 50 mile across dust storm that blew in over the valley. It was pretty cool to see it come in. I'm not sure what it did but it blew something out so that my side of the street lost power.
Ahh summer in the Valley of the Sun.

We have a basement. It's a finished room with closet, about 200 sq ft, not the full footprint of the house like some. Has all the stuff some would fill their garage or storage unit (~5000 comics, Disney stuff, etc). I want it emptier so Hubby can have it as his man cave.

My parents' house had a basement but they also called it a cellar. It was unfinished, used for the hot water heater and some storage. Looked like a dungeon, walls surrounded by the dirt of the crawlspace under the house.

Oh both houses are in CA, mine in Fresno, theirs in Pasadena.
