British Genre Series "MISFITS" comes to... Hulu

I like the crudeness, that is a pretty realistic representation of how those characters would speak IRL.

Yeah, very realistic. Hell I can talk like that in the right circumstances and, living on a council estate, I hear it every day right outside my door.

For once, the over-the-top outlandish and crass language actually adds a little depth and realism to the show. Sadly, that IS how the kids on the street talk to one another (and me in fact). Curse and Code. But I find it fresh that it isn't all "Damn, and Son of a Bitch with the occasional Bastard. In the real world in an estate in England you'll hear a 10 year old throw around a Cunt without a blink.

Bless 'im.

The show is a real treat in my opinion and I'm very happy my S1/2 Blu-Ray box set is due to be delivered tomorrow.

Going to make full use of my rest day! :D

Hugo - We’re a bunch of young offenders and not one of us knows how to steal a car? This is pathetic!

I didn't get a chance to check it out on Hulu today, but I definitely plan on it in the near future. Just out of curiosity, does this have any kind of a villain or is it just how the powers effect their daily lives?

Mostly how it effects their lives but there are bad guys in certain episodes.

Damn, did anyone else catch the news that:

Robert Sheehan will not be back as Nathan in S3.

That sucks.

I bought S1 a couple of months ago and it's still in its cellophane. I really have to make time to watch it. Still enjoying LA Noire though, despite my spectacularly crap driving.

It isn't like either really. It's fun, rude and crude and very British. The creator said he wanted to do a British superhero story with none of the American angle to it, just very much set in how British society is.
Hmm, a fun show called "Misfits" about regular people getting superpowers through some random accident, with those powers based on their inner insecurities.

Yeah, nothing American about that at all. <coughs at the Misfits of Science or even The Fantastic Four>

I think the theme has probably been used many more times than that. What Bob was talking about is the format and environment.

There's no need to get snooty about original ideas since it's pretty academic once a theme is part of society as a whole.

Yeah, they announced that a couple of months back, he's doing an online thing as a send off but then it's being replaced with a new kid in series

I thought it was pretty obvious that's what I was saying.

BTW you need to watch it, oh and get your partner to do most of the driving, you just get bored if you try to do all the driving.

[still off-topic] I worked that out about my partner but there are still set pieces where you have to give chase. Much hilarity ensues. However I like the skip feature, which would have saved a lot of games we gave up on long before the end. [ends off-topic]

Driving was my biggest problem with the game. Complete crap at it, even when I was trying to be careful. When it game to the set pieces I just turned the siren on and floored it.

On topic I suppose, Robert Sheehan was saying the new guy is brilliant, hopefully that means they're not just doing a clone character.

I finally watched the first episode of Misfits, and I loved it. It did take me a little while to get used to Kelly's accent, but after 15 or 20 minutes I had no problem understanding her.

I think the first episode is possibly the weakest one of the lot too, so enjoy the rest.

I miss a lot or Kelly's dialogue, but she's a lot about hitting people, which translates into American very well.

Robert Sheehan has left the small pond of English TV...for the big time Hollywood of the Nicholas Cage movie, Season of the Witch.:guffaw:As impossible as it may seem, apparently Ethan's IQ was modeled on Sheehan's.

But is Misfits accurately captures the reality for English youth, as opposed to the youth self-image/impression of the world, England the unsinkable aircraft carrier will be put to the test.

^^ ERMMM, that's a mighty big spoiler for folks just tuning in. Would you mind cloaking it? Thanks.

^^^I believe I caught that information in the Hulu ad that tipped me off to the existence of Misfits in the first place. So, I think that cat's out of the bag.
