Ever felt unsafe in an "enemy" team's stadium?

I'm sure their mothers are very proud of him.

Wow, we've got to have a better season this year, things are starting to look so tame at the HOT. All hail the Silver and Black.

Bump: I'm gonna take the plunge - at the end of August I'll actually be *in* Fenway wearing Yankee gear. Should be...interesting. As nervous as I typically am about things like this, I decided I wouldn't let them frighten me away. I'll report back on my experiences...if they're good.

 nah, seriously, I don't expect to end up like that guy in the Dodger Stadium parking lot or anything like that. If it doesn't get much worse than this, I'll call it even:

and unlike those guys in the video, I won't be standing up and gesturing or anything like that. The whole time I'm there, I will keep my mouth shut, my head down, and my hands to myself. :shifty:

I've seen many Red Sox fans wear their gear at Yankee Stadium and they survived the night. I'm sure the same can be said about Fenway

I've seen that too. Even in the bleachers, where you'd expect there to be friction. Last time I was at Yankee Stadium for a Yankees/Redsox game, there wasn't a peep raised in anger. (They made us stop singing that certain YMCA parody song.) I even saw Yanks/Sox couples scattered throughout the stands. :)

True dat. And of course I won't be *alone* in being a Yankee fan at Fenway. I'm sure there will be thousands there who'll have my back. After all there's likely to be so much media attention, as there usually is for a rivalry like this, that Fenway security can't afford to let people start thinking it's unsafe. Word spreads quickly, after all...

People ask me, why didn't I get better seats? Well by the time I hit StubHub, the only seats left were: 1) Bleacher seats for about fifty bucks each; 2) Green Monster seats for a thousand bucks a pop. As much as I'd love to see what the GM is like, I'm not THAT desperate.

I just hope I don't chicken out at the last minute and leave my Yankee gear at home. That would be bad. I suppose I could wear Nebraska Cornhusker gear, which is mostly red and of course would blend in nicely, but there's still my Yankee cap to worry about. :shifty:

^ You do know that it's Boston, not Kandahar, right?

No, because baseball teams are mortal enemies, you see, and the rivalry over a game is even more vitriolic and contentious than the Troubles in Ireland.

Seriously, MLB, settle the fuck down. I've worn a Cubs jersey with a Yankees cap while at, you guessed it, Yankee Stadium during Cubs / Yankees, and believe it or not, I'm still here to tell the story, and even more importantly, no one gave a shit.

I've seen plenty of Cubs, Cardinals, Mets, Phillies, Yankees, and Red Sox fans at Turner Field. Nobody has ever died to my knowledge.

Don't you have any clothing that isn't sports-related?

Italian stadiums are completely safe.

Yes, that's a flying Vespa.

I've worn a Juventus jersey in Florence once. I know what courage is. :p

No one cared when I wore Yankee gear to Chicago when I was there in April (one guy at Wrigley asked why a Yankee fan would care about coming there, since the Cubs were playing the D-backs that day; I just said I wanted to see Wrigley because I'd never been there before) either. It's just that Yankees/Redsox gets so much more attention than most of the other rivalries. I'm trying to lighten up about it though, otherwise I wouldn't be doing this in the first place.

And there's the fan who got the crap beat out of him at Dodger Stadium (in the parking lot actually) as well.

I've not heard about any fan abuse in the stadium. However... don't drive your car there; or if you do, park very VERY far away from Fenway.

I have known 3 different people from NY who have visited Boston when the Yankees were playing them. One of them suffered a very trashed car when the Red Sox lost. Another suffered some minor car vandalism when the Red Sox won. And another was lucky to not suffer damage but had recounted seeing cars with NY plates get vandalized frequently after those games, even if the Red Sox were playing the Yankees in NY!

^ From what little I remember about the neighborhood around Fenway I'm surprised that ANYONE can drive there, there's so little room.
