FX orders Powers to pilot

Jason Patric has been cast as the lead!

I like it - he's one of those actors who are always interesting in whatever I see him in, but I don't see him remotely often enough to have gotten sick of the guy.

No idea whether he suits the character since I don't read the comic. But since I don't read the comic, it wouldn't matter to me anyway.

I also like that it's filming in Chicago - that's a great location.

Chandler seems to be a picky guy. He turned down Terra Nova and now (probably) Powers. He's a hot commodity, so I'd imagine he was offered the role.

I wonder what show he'll end up on.

I'm not saying that it will or won't be picked up. I was speculating at Kyle's reasons for turning it down. As a highly sought out actor (at least it seems this way) I was guessing perhaps one of the reasons why he turned it down was network commitment. Given how his last network show ended up I'm sure job security was on his mind. There is of course the possibility that he simply didn't have an interest in the role.

Maybe it's just that Powers isn't going to be a prestige role that gets Emmy attention and helps his career? Regardless of quality, it would be an uphill climb. Ditto for the dino show. There's an anti-sf/f bias out there.

Just noticed this thread. I haven't read the comics yet, but the concept does intrigue me, so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

Well the comic most likely will have a panel with Bendis where I'm sure he will no doubt touch on the pilot but I think it's too early to determine that.

If this was covered earlier I apologize, I only read the last couple pages, but have they said if Bendis is going to be involved at all?

^ Not yet. Same deal with the Hulk show. I believe these are still in development for next year's pilot season though.

I really like her in those commercials, so hopefully she'll do a good job in this. I'm assuming her role is going to be entirely in flashback's if her murder sets the whole series in motion? Do we know anything about how they're setting up the stories for this yet, is it going to be actually adapting the stories from the comics, original stories, or both?
