$500. ?! really? It's a 300 page book. How much do all the Trek blueprint books go for?
My guess is they will do a reprint in a year for 2012 since the 5000 may sell out.

Ouch, you've gotta be one hell of a fan (or have way too much money you don't know what to do with) to spend $500 on one item, even if the pages are made of gold. I mean, I understand, over a period of time, buying up Audio books/plays and/or novels and DVD Sets or Action Figuresof a favorite show/movie, but, $500 just for one item? Wow, that's some dedication (NOTE: I'm not saying this isn't worth it, I have no idea what something like this mght be worth, but, still, that's an awful lot of cash for just 1 collectible.)

I am a huge star wars fan but that is a bit much for a coffee table book.
I am sure dk publishing will have something similar for it in the near future.

You know I'm pretty sure I have a set of vintage Star Wars Blueprints knocking around somewhere. I think I paid 50p at a car boot sale for them. £300 odd is just outrageous. Even if it's a *really* nice quality book I'd never pay more than £50 or £60 for something like that new, if I were still interested in such things.

I picked up some SW blueprints years ago, they were in cardboard folders and I don't recall them being super-detailed or anything.

Do they really make their costs back on these things, as opposed to mass market reference books for $20-$40?

I suspect they do. There seems to be a sizable segment of rabid Star Wars fandom with significant disposable income. I will cop to buying the limited edition of Sculpting a Galaxy, but not at list price. Couldn't resist though, as the included goodies were very cool.

As for Frames, even if I did drop three grand on it, I think I'd be too afraid to even open a single volume, lest I get one stray greasy fingerprint on it.

$500?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Jesus Titty-Fucking CHRIST!

Looking at some of the sample pages available on the page the blueprints don't look quite as interesting as, say, the Ent-D blueprints do. They mostly look like pencil-sketches for the prop-master or something unless there's more to it like showing you actual circuit boards or something even then, $500 is pretty damn steep!

EDIT:

I watched a video on site and read it, at first I thought they were in-universe blueprints but it turns out they're more of production blue-prints. I guess that higher price makes a bit more sense now but not much.

I would so buy this book if it was $100...even $200 (or at least ask for it at Christmas time). $500 bucks is just ridiculous. This seems like it will be Rinzler's baby project. He has been talking about this for at least two years now I believe.
