Meditation.

The form of meditation called Mindfulness actually has NICE UK recognition as providing health benefits. If you do a search for that, you'll find several websites with resources, advice, and places to find contacts near you to for support.

I've been trying to master meditation and self-hypnosis for almost 20 years now. I've made some headway, but haven't mastered either one yet. I either fall asleep or my mind kicks back in when I catch myself in a trance state. Letting go is hard to do.

Isn't "self hypnosis" contradictory in terms anyway?
 
^ A lot of books I've read make it clear that all hypnosis is self hypnosis because it's simply about allowing your mind to go into a more relaxed and receptive state. It's not about being controlled by someone else eventhough the media and stage hypnotists make it seem that way.
 
Yeah, self hypnosis is more about affirmation of an idea, the power of suggestion, that one can be brought to believe something, or accept something, if it can be phrased in just the right way. We are all under some kind of suggestive power, all of the time. We're geared toward it.

I tried the meditation and didn't get it my first time. I felt light headed, I don't think that I am actually supposed to breath in through my nose and out of my mouth like I am exercising.
