Canucks Fans Lose it - What the hell is wrong with people?

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2011/06/15/bc-stanley-cup-fans-post-game-7.html

When the Canucks made it to the playoffs, it became some sort of national pride thing in Canada. Yeah, we take hockey way too seriously.

But even the Prime Minister named his new cat through a Facebook "contest," he named it "Stanley." Whenever a Canadian team is in the playoffs, all of Canada seems to take on this responsibility and pride in whatever team it is, takes them under our wing and supports them.

So what do we do now? After their loss and the riots? Will Canada as a nation take any responsibility in what happened in Vancouver? What the fuck is wrong with people that they feel they need to burn cars, riot and fight because a stupid fucking sports team lost a game? Is this where our priorities lay? Will Canada as a nation rise up and condemn what has happened in Vancouver the same way we rose up to support the Canucks? Will the team publicly condemn its fans for what they've done, as it should? These "fans" should be admonished from all corners. This is not what sports entertainment should be about.

Anyone here who was in Vancouver last night? Anyone somehow understand and want to defend this behaviour?

Rioting over a goddamn sports game. People need to grow the fuck up. Sometimes, I'm ashamed of humanity.

:(
You're a complete idiot if you think people were rioting because of a sports game.

Get over yourself and your BS "shame" you feel for humanity, and get the fuck off your soapbox.

As a guy who was there in the middle of it last night, this was something that was pre-planned by degenerate loser street kids that think of themselves as anarchists but really are just a fucking disgrace and a drain on society. These are the same people who tried to start shit at the Olympics but got shut down. These are the people that bring moltov cocktails to throw in cars and the people that bring bats to break windows with. Unfortunately due to a combination of alcohol and mob mentality, they managed to suck in a few more people. This had nothing to do with sports and everything to do with a small, select group of people wanting this to happen.

Here's some pics I took:

You see that chick with the dyed hair? She's part of those greasy street kids and I've sent her picture to a friend of mine that works at the RCMP.

What utter morons like T'Baio don't talk about or probably even realize is that the vast, vast majority of people down there were just yelling and having a good time - nothing wrong with that. They also don't know about the very large and significant group of people that were stopping this behavior, preventing cars from being turned over, preventing windows from being broken, breaking up fights, picking up garbage. This could have been a lot worse if it wasn't for those great people.

Try thinking before you post, drama queen.

Fuck it, sports hooligans are a fact of life in Europe, why should the new world have it any better?

Some people just don't know how to have a good time. Here in New Orleans we have a rather despicable crime rate, but when the Saints won the Superbowl, not a single window was broken.

I'm a drama queen? You could say "you're wrong, and this is why, want to have a discussion?"

With an attitude like that, you don't sound much better than the "degenerates" who might let their emotions run away from them and get swept up in the riots.

You still aren't thinking before you post.

Equating a stongly worded post with people who burn cars and break windows. What kind of a sensitive little sally are you anyways?

No please, make more threads about things you have no idea about, feign surprise when people call you out on it and then run away with your tail in between your legs.

It's very entertaining.

To no one's great surprise, this gets you the Warning of the year. Comments to PM, if you have anything left to say.

Obviously, I wasn't there, so I can only speak as to what I see in the Youtube videos and pictures, but I find it hard to believe that everyone that was smashing windows and running through the stores grabbing whatever wasn't nailed down were anarchists. Yeah, I get that the anarchists started it, but it didn't take long for others to join in. And I suspect there were a lot more that joined in after it started then there were anarchists.

I have nothing but respect for those that took a stand against the idiots and tried to protect what they could. But everyone else that took even one little swing or kick at a window/car/whatever, even as just a joke picture, is little more than scum in my mind. I hope that every single one of them gets identified and has their lives raked over the coals for what they participated in last night. They should be arrested. They should be fired from whatever jobs they have. They should be publicly identified so that the entire world knows to stay away from them.

That they were so easily sucked into participating makes them little better than the anarchists that started it.

It seems like all the comments to various stories I've read about this are putting Vancouver as a whole in a very negative light. It seems like the internet has made it free for people to absolutely tear the city to shreds because of a bunch of hooligans who ruined everything for everyone else.

Well, here is a story and a picture slide show that I wanted to share because I think it's cool that volunteers (mostly due to a facebook campaign) came out to put a lighter side on the city:

Good for the volunteers who did this today. Vancouver is a great city (And a place I would love to visit one day) and this kind of rekindles some good graces (Not all, but some) in my view.

Fortunately for Vancouver [at least in the US] Anthony Weiner decided to resign yesterday and Howard Stern sent his Hench men to publicly ridicule him.

[unfortunately fighting a losing battle, but still... What a horde of douchebags, incredible]

That's awful, it looks like that poor guy must have gotten injured pretty badly by that crowd afterwards. All for trying to protect his own property.

This sort of thing just goes to show how weak and easily led people can be when they get into a mob situation.

Wow, Vancouver is a really shitty place. Remind me never to go there, especially during a Stanely Cup final.

A couple of people may have started the riots, but hundreds/thousands of people still stood by and watched as their city was being destoryed.
