Psylocke was technically in X3 and dissintergrated. Maybe we can just assume that was actually Revanche and Psylocke can be in X4.

I'd like the lineup to be Wolverine and Storm as team leaders, Colossus, Iceman, Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, Beast, Angel and Rogue.

Yeah Storm only works as leader once Cyclops is out of the way - his loss was her gain. Remove Beast and add Psylocke in my view though (X3 version was asian and exhibited shadow powers - she was psylocke in name only really - from the Crimson Dawn era). Cool as he is, his story in X3 had a beginning middle, and end. They only have two hours to focus on characters so I'd prefer them to focus on others who have story issues left. Using Psylocke gives them a telepath to work with while leaving Professor X absent on Muir Island doing his secret research routine until X5. Maybe in fighting Phoenix he realised that she was just a psychic projecton from the real Jean who is currently sedated in Sinister's shielded lab and he has been working on finding her.

Wounding Potr and Kitty per the massacre puts them both on Muir Island together in X5 and leads them naturally into their comicbook romance and back with Professor X. Wounding Angel and amputating his wings sets him up to become Apocalypse's henchman in X5. Rogue is trickier but I'd favour her powers kicking back in and stealing Ms Marvel powers permanently as it would be fun to see her as an amatuer powerhouse with a split personality would give us some great new dimensions for the movie version.

Basically you have a fresh trilogy with a new arc. Magneto can still feature as an ally or enemy (in the comic he tried to heal Colossus in steel form and ended up paralysing hm). I just think the three classic stories give us exciting iconic X-villains and lots of story potential.

I wonder if they will actually be able to pull off an X4 without confusing people (casual moviegoers) thinking it's a sequel to X-Men: First Class.

I think if X4 is directed by Singer then it won't confuse anyone. I wonder if he'll ignore Last Stand? I ask that in all seriousness. First Class seems to be the prequel that fits in Singer's X-Universe. It's pure speculation obviously but I wonder if he would go as far as completely ignoring X3 if he signed to direct X4.

I think that would confuse people even more if he were to ignore the events of X3. And I think most peoples lasting memories about that movie were how bad it was and how messy the franchise had gotten.

I'm torn on this. I voted for Deadpool because I see potential there. However, I'm not quite enthused for The Wolverine (maybe because I still have that bad taste in my mouth from XOW).

Having just seen First Class, I'm looking forward to see where they go next with that part of the franchise.

I want to see X-Men 4 only if they do some time travel and prevent the events of TLS from ever having happened (or retcon it some other way). However, I would be more than willing to see an X-Force, X-Factor, Generation X, Gambit or other such film.

They should explain it by saying it's like what's going on in Star Trek: First Class is nuTrek, X4 is the Further Adventures of Patrick Stewart in the Prime Timeline.

Actually he still is:

"Hello, Moira."
"Charles?"

Called it....?

No interest in Deadpool. Not on my "comics radar". Barely know who he is.

Wolverine would be okay, but the bloom is off that rose.

X4, the rose is dead and mulched.

A sequel to FC would be my choice. I liked the 60s Bond vibe. (The sub HQ and a bad actress as the sexy villain ;) ) Might be fun to jump ahead a decade and intro a 70s class. (can you say Dazzler ;) )

But that wasn't Patrick Stewart.

In my mind, Jean, Scott, and Professor X are all hanging out on the Astral Plane just waiting for someone bring them back.

X4: Storm vs. The Shadow King

I always thought that episode was boring in the animated series. Ororo back in Africa, me learning what Claustophobia is, fighting the Shadowking, yeah didn't really appeal to me as a weee lad.

Yeah, I did too. I'm just coming up with a story for Halle Barry so she doesn't have anything to bitch about this time around. :p

But that wasn't Patrick Stewart.

It was still supposed to be Charles and it was definitely Stewart's voice.
( Besides, if the brother "P. Xavier" as named in the commentary turns out to be a twin, you can just have Stewart play the role again as usual. )

It was meant to be Charles in that scene yes. In the audio commentary I believe Zak Penn mentions they took the idea from Morrison's creation of Cassandra Nova.

The guy in the bed was actually Patrick Stewart with a beard, ya know...pretty sure I read that somewhere.

Given that The Wolverine has been described as a "one off" film, the PTB might have some leeway to ignore Origins: Wolverine, depending of course on whether or not there are any direct references to O:W in TW. The PTB also have some leeway to ignore much of TLS if they ever go back to the main franchise by having Singer essentially pick up the story from where he left off in X2 and tell the Dark Phoenix story - or a variation thereof - in the manner he was originally intending to.
