Miami Vice (film) why the hate?

I think that's one of the things that I love about MV, it's a beautiful film to watch. I do admit the character's are a bit shallow, but the movie's not really about them, it's about the situations they are put in.

I was old enough to have remembered it if it was something my folks watched. It wasn't, so I never grew up on it. I was an avid Nash Bridges viewer, so that turned me onto Miami Vice long before the movie was ever in the planning stages.

So suffice it to say, I was very familiar with the show when I went to see the movie, and I still enjoyed the movie.

I remember being just old enough to watch the show as a kid. And by that, I mean I was ten years old when it went off the air. Mostly I watched it for the action and later came to enjoy other aspects of it.

I liked the series (at least the first few seasons before it got weird and Sheena Easton showed up). I liked the movie.

The movie was a decent cop film. However, because it wasn't groundbreaking it looked too much like every other cop film, simply because EVERY cop film since 1986 borrows from Vice to one extent or another.

The series was groundbreaking and influenced both television and movies in terms of atmosphere, use of music and art direction, etc.

Hey, don't diss Sheena. Aside from being drop-dead gorgeous, I loved hearing her accent every week for a while. I loved the way she said "He's from the fashion police."

Your right about everybody coping Vice and the movie took The Smugglers Blues episode and mashed it together with the Calderon's story. A quick flip with Rico having an affair with Trudy and not Sonny having an affair with Gina. The movie was also missing the humor of the series.

I think the series had one good year and then flashes of good stuff the rest of the run. But Noogie Lamont was gone and Crockett and Tubs were to good. The greatness of the pilot was when Calderon flew away after all their work, at the second season premier and the finale Crockett and Tubbs shoot down planes with their Bren 10 and sawed off shotguns.

I've seen bits and pieces of the other seasons, but the only season I've seen in it's entirety is the first (own it on DVD).
