Anti British and Anti French views

I can think of many adjectives to describe iguana_tonante, but "ignorant" isn't one of them. And he does know how "Italia" is spelled, too.

Neither do I, and I really wanted to say something clever.
They were very nice to me.
French people I know here are great, one girl I know from Orleans, she's cool. - People are cool, when they're not ignorant. I've ran into groups of Parisian people clubbing/partying in London too, great people, great ethnically diverse people, I thought. - Laid back and fun, like me.
It's just, he accused America of being like a shining beacon multiculturalism, and it's not; Sure, you guys in America can be diverse, but I did notice, when I went there, white people and black people all living in separate communities and wearing separate things... He then went on to accuse Europe of not being as Multicultural as America... That may be true of Italy, of Germany, but don't dare tar where I live with that same brush... He then said France Germany and Italy are the same as the UK, politically and democratically, and could not understand what all the fuss was about... I know the UK's not like France, and I know it's sure as heck not like Italy, politically. - What he said was wrong and I got offended when he tried to pass us of as the same, as flattering as it was, it's just wrong. You may have minorities in Europe, like Germany and Italy, but I doubt you have equality; like the equality enjoyed here.

On the matter of US/French rivalry, I remember quite vividly the run-up to the US invasion of Iraq. France's refusal to support us in that resulted in a very vocal backlash against the French by Americans. "Freedom fries" and the like. There were even serious suggestions that we give back the Statue of Liberty.
It was hardly a friendly bit of ribbing, people here were fucking pissed and considered the French traitors to democracy and the entire free world. It was completely insane.
"You're either with us or you're with the terrorists" was not just a slogan in those dark years.

I've already said this before but I'll say it again. You haven't understood what iguana said in the Melting Pot thread at all. It's baffling how you could misunderstand what he said to such an extent.
ETA: Oh, and stop it with the insinuation that somehow Italy, French and Germany don't have 'equality'. It's insulting.

Iguana is definitely amongst the more innocuous posters here; I can't say I've ever taken issue with anything he's said.

Well, I'd have to disagree. I think Europe's large cities certainly have varying degrees of multicultural flavour, but the USA is the result of a mingling of different cultures. Europe is a collection of more-or-less mono-cultural nation-states so they're not really the same. I'm pretty happy I can get a lot of the ethnic food I used to get in the SF Bay Area, but there are noticeable gaps.
