Formula One 2011

Exactly as I thought. What's annoying is, that while I don't mind who wins (as long as it's not bloody Alonso), I prefer it to happen at the end of the season, like last year. If Vettel wins this race and the next, basically that's it for the championship, so long as he finishes in the points for the rest of the season...

Perez sustained concussion and a thigh injury from that crash, but otherwise little else and nothing broken. He'll be kept in hospital overnight and probably won't start the race tomorrow.

Well Hamilition has been demoted to 10th ( a net 9th with Perez not starting). Still anything can happen and Monaco. I think we've had the SC at something like 10 of the last 11 races. And I won't be suprised if we have a high attrition rate.

What a clusterfuck of a race. I don't like Monaco as a racing venue at all.

Probably the most incident-packed Monaco GP I've seen in a long while. That was Vitaly Petrov injured in that big crash. Hopefully he'll be OK.

Jesus, what a total goatfuck - Is Lewis Vettel's biggest fan or something? He and McLaren seemed to do everything they could to hand the race to him. And Lewis was a fucking wrecking ball...

ETA- Lewis just said on Red Button "they pick on me cos I'm black" and continued to blame everybody else for his bumps. It's ironic - over the past year I'd been thinking, oh Lewis Hamilton has matured into such a good driver... he's the one guy who can stand up to Vettel... Nah, he's lost my respect back to 2008/9 levels again. He's a boy racer with a superlicence instead of a Corsa. What a waste. Well done Eddie Jordan for calling him on it too.

The Red Bull party after the race were throwing people in their pool live on Red Button - Lesley said "can they throw Coulthard in in his white trousers cos he has an interesting bulge?" So i posted that request on RBR's facebook page, and three minutes later they did! Kudos to Red Bull Racing for that one!

Well perhaps some of Lewis's comments were in retrosepect ill made, but most of us have at one time or another said things we shouldn't have said when we were annoyed, frustrated etc...

McLaren paid the price for getting it wrong on Saturday, even I know as a fan that Monaco is the one circuit where you have to get a banker of a qualifing lap on.

As for the race itself it was a bit scrappy, perhaps Red Bull got a bit lucky on the timings of the Safty Car

The red flag and free tyre change just turned the last 5 laps into a procession at the front, what an absolute joke. Yes I'm just bitter that the wunderkind won yet again, but honestly I'd rather have seen Alonso win, and I can't stand that guy either, but at least he doesn't stick his stupid index finger up and grin every time he sees a camera (though he sticks his middle finger up in the cockpit when he gets overtaken) or makes Crazy Frog noises over the radio.

As for Lewis' comments, he just sounded pissed off and not clear-headed enough to give an interview. The team messed up his Q3 with their complacency, and to be fair he has been picked on by the stewards in the past (though in this case he fully deserved it). The FIA have a problem with aggressive (or 'dangerous' as they call it now; the top drivers from the 60s, 70s and 80s would be penalised all over the place by today's standards) driving and they've always had a problem with McLaren as a team.

Ok, so at what point does a defending driver concede? Turning into attacking driver is a legitimate defense now according to the stewards? Massa and Maldonado know Lewis is alongside and yet they turn in!

On lap 1, Schumacher did exactly what Lewis did, the difference being Hamilton didn't turn in on Michael as Maldonado did on him.

And Felipe, stop crying to the press for more penalties for Lewis-- you caused your own crash. Remember, you're the one who drove off line and onto the marbles.

i really like f1 racing..
here's my favorite f1 team.. :)

I completely disagree, besides the dominance of Red Bull, this is the most competitive season in years. The racing is far more exciting because of DRS and KERS, there were 126 separate overtakes in Spain, unheard of in the 90s.

One driver winning everything isn't exciting. It's the same as when Schumacher won everything.

F1, for me, isn't just about who crosses the line first, it's about the racing across the whole field. Watching Schumacher's season unfolding is fascinating, just for a start.

DRS and KERS are rubbish though. The only non-artificial push-to-pass is the adjustable turbos on the 80s cars.

All the commentators were out-hyperbolising each other about the fabulous new tyre system that makes it all much more competitive. It still doesn't change the fact that, provided he keeps safe, Vettel will have won this by half way. Yawn.

One of these days I will have to start watching it again. I decided I was going to be a Arrows fan, then they folded....
